By law you CAN work only a couple of hours a day. I think it is only 20 hours a week.

You are limited to the hours you can work, and don't pay any attention to the 1st 2 comments, one of these days they will be on disability and will be asking the same question! 20 hours a week is the hours you ar allowed.

There is no set limit. The important thing is to report the earnings. You have people who work on the side and do not report to Soc. Sec. and then, you have those that do work and do report. They do allow disabled persons to try to work but they do count their income and do reduce their checks if that is needed. The reason is that for some people, they need to attempt work to see if they are able. You will see persons with disabilities working in various businesses in the area and they are not able to work full time and support themselves but are able to work a few hours a week to feel productive. If you think someone is committing fraud, call the soc sec and report it to them, they will check it out.

this is mostly right. i am on disability and sometimes some people are allowed to work. if u think it is fraud u should call the ss office. they will know what that person is doing if they are legit and are reporting that they are working like they are supposed to.

MY GOD, whats wrong with you people. If you draw disability your doing so because your not able to work, physical or mental problems exist.Just because somebody is lazy and stupid drawing a check means that our tax dollars is paying for it!GET A JOB if your able and stop abusing the system.

I know a set of skanky 21 year old twins that draw disability. After seeing them day after day realizing that they are not disabled I finally asked "why are you on disability"? and one of the twins replied, "I get nervous counting money." I wanted to die. I cannot believe people get away with this. Later I found out from a friend who is a teacher that their cousin was acting up in class and when the teacher asked him why he wouldnt do his work he said because my mamaw said that when I am 18 I can go on disability. OMG the whole family does it!!

Sometimes a part time job can lead the person to full time work and the ability to get off disability.

BTW SSD is paid in by the person that draws it, SSI is the one the taxpayer supports, a form of welfare, and less money on the check each month also.

i respect someone who is disababled that tries to work ,it keeps them sane there are a lot of people who are disabled. who have had injuries car wrecks ect.ect. and there are some who claim to be disabled for work because they are low life scum and draw a nut check ...and there are some that are disabled mentaly and draw a mental that deseve it its the filtering problem ....the government needs to filter all the scum bags out of the system ..i know a woman who deserves her check she worked for over 25 years for the same place she had some thing bad happen to her she won her ssc not ssi and she still cant pay her bills she tried to draw food stamps and they told her she could only draw 10$ a month ....thats a shame ...those that suck the system dry are hurting those that have worked.. got hurt and cant work ..........bugs me .........god bless ya

The problem lies with the government. They want to give things to people that won't lift a finger for anything. If someone has worked all their life and really need it they say screw them. Until the American people stand up and demand things change, everyone will continue to cry over these issues though.
