How can I tell my parents that I need help?
I'm a 21yo guy btw
I have wanted to tell them but I don't know a good time/way to tell them how I feel.

I have been feeling depressed for many months now, and I have had multiple thoughts about killing myself and how I would do it. I don't feel like a danger to myself at the moment, I'm just worried that I will be in the future. My parents are already worrying about my weight. I'm 5"11 130-135 pounds and have 28-29 waist, I used to weigh around 210 and a 40 waist...
I don't need people to report me, I just need advice!

Call the crisis line and at least talk to somebody.

if you cant sit them down and look them in the eye and ask them, why not write them a letter, and ask them just like you put in on here...thats what i would do in you situation, i mayself have been in a similar situation, but instead of going to my parents i went to someone that i looked up to a lot, that was a real good friend to my family and she helped me out alot...i hope things get better for you, i hate to see ppl get down like this...i hope this helps

Is your parents someone you can talk to? If so, just sit them down and tell them you need to talk about something very important. If you are nervous, maybe rehearsing what you are going to say before you actually do it will help. You may need to go talk to a specialist if talking to your parents didn't help. Good luck and I hope you get the help you need.

I don't feel comfortable taking to them. I love my parents, but I just don't have enough courage to tell them.

I don't have any close friends or people I look up to, to tell. I've became pretty reclusive the last 8 or so months....

That is why the crisis line would be good. You don't have to face them, they are third party, so they don't know you and dont' know your family. That way, you can just talk out your feelings and maybe at some point you will feel you can talk to your family and if not, maybe the crisis people can help.

I'm embarrassed to talk about it, talking to some stranger i think is even worse.
I just wish I had a way to tell them so I can see a doctor or whoever.
I was thinking about just admitting myself, but you surrender your rights to have a concealed weapons license if admitted...

I have one small question my dear, Do you love your mother or father? If so think of the pain , you doing something to yourself will cause them... I know of this pain and it is one that you never get over. Sure life is easier for you , but becomes so much harder for them. Can you imagine your dear mother, crying herself to sleep night after night, over the fact that you could not talk to her and ask her for help , so you took her baby away from her? Love my dear, it does make all well. Go to them or someone else you love and get help. I know much to well...

Whatever is bothering you, I PROMISE there is someone else going through the exact same thing, possibly even worse. Do whatever it takes to get help because whatever is troubling you is only temporary; taking your life is a PERMANENT solution to a TEMPORARY problem.

Even if its just an online forum where someone is going through the same struggles you are, reach out. Find a friend; open up and help yourself and help someone else.

If you have an eating disorder, a problem with a bully [BULLIES], anxiety, sexual identity questions...WHATEVER - there is online support for that. Google is your friend. You're opening up to us now, reaching out for help, and taking a small step toward getting help (you've admitted you have a problem). Look to someone else who has been through it or is going through it and seek their advice.

Take from someone who has been there and made it through a wiser, stronger person. Its not easy buut living is always better than the alternative.

I'm just needing advice on how to tell my parents that I need help.

I guess I'll try that.
I just don't want them to think I'm a freak...

For the record, my suggestion was in no way a substitute for professional help. I went through a very, very, very difficult time in my life where I felt that turning to my parents wasn't an option.

It helped for me to "warm up" by talking to other people who could relate to what I was going through. Then I began talking to my closest friends, and eventually I talked to my parents about it. Often times we build-up problems in our head & make them much bigger than they actually are in reality.
