Does anyone know somebody that has had the new DiVinci hysterectomy? This is pretty new isn't it? I am seeing a surgeon this week for the abdominal hysterectomy, but this new way might be worth looking into!

Thanks for the input. I am used to seeing a female doctor. I looked up the Women's Health Specialist Center, and it looks like they have two female doctors in the practice. Dr. Kasica and Dr. Andrews. Are you familiar with either of them?
I believe there are also a few other women OBs in the area. It is my preference to go to a female if possible. Thanks so much for replying!
I love Dr. Kasica. I didnt care much for Dr. Andrews she delivered my son.
Dr. Nemec is my normal doctor and he delivered my daughter that delivery was my first child and was awesome he talks you all the way through it. He is wonderful.

I am not sure if this is still the case but the womens health specialist center where dr kasica is used to be the group that took all the welfare cases. They went thru doctors right and left and a couple of them were horrible. I do not know the new ones there or if they are still considered the group that takes all the welfare cases. I would check it out though.
Why does it even matter if they are the group that accepts the "Medical card". It is the Dr she is interested in not the other patients that the Dr sees. Besides that since Fairview community health center is open that is where most of the Medical card patients go now, and some of these dr. go over there to see these patients. Dr. Nemec has been at womens health specialist for close to 15 years now. maybe longer.

dr granese is the best ob/gyn she is always honest with you and she has the best colleages available at baptist in nashville. she has been my dr for 15 yrs. the office staff is always professional and very friendly. dr granese is awesome though. she delivered my first and because of complications with the second i was sent to drs in nashville for f/u and c section for both my safety and the baby because b.g. is not really equipped for major issues. thank God none presented themselves but the extra precautions were appreciated.

Dr Drexel is the best in Bowling Green. He delivered by last child by a scheduled Csection. He is a wonderful dr and really listens to his patients. He takes time with each patient and doesn't rush through. I had diffucult births before and miscarriages and was worried about my last pregnacy but he really done a good job at monitering everything during my pregnacy. Before seeing him I had been to Dr nemec for 9 years and loved him. The only thing is that his office had become really crowded and they seem to rush through the visits and calls never would get returned. But I highly recommend Dr Drexel and have never heard anything bad about him or his office.

Dr. Kasica delivered my first son and she was great, very caring. She arrived late at the hospital while I was delivering and they were holding my sons head..waiting on her. I blame the nurses for that not her, because they didn't call her til the very last minute. I also loved Dr Trevor. He was great, but I went to the women's clinic and of course they wouldn't let you pick your doctor. The new one who works there with the curly red hair.. Leigh Lindsey, i think is her name. she about killed me checking to see if i was dilated, she was very rough, even my husband said something to her. I was in tears by the time she got threw with me. My husband said we are not going back to her again. Dr. Nemec was very nice too but I only got to see him once.

I am also curious to find anyone who has had a total abdominal hysterectomy performed by Dr. Dobson in Bowling Green within the last year. Any complications? What to expect? Wanted to have the laproscopic (sp?) kind, but was told my fibroids were too big to do it that way. Any info. would be appreciated as I make this important decision.

Dr. Beverly did my Davinci hysterectomy a year ago he did a great job. I feel awesome. He was there for me the whole time for anything, the surgery was no big deal I was up walking by the next morning. So much better than our mothers hysterectomy. So GLAD I DID IT. Dr. Beverly is the bomb.

Did you have a total hysterectomy & if so, why did you have to have it? I have 4 fibroid tumors. At the age of 51, I won't be having any more children, & since the tumors are continuing to grow, they suggested a hysterectomy. They are suppose to take everything. Dr. Dobson is my normal Ob/GYN and have only seen Dr. Beverly to do the ultrasounds. Beverly said it was "iffy" to have it done laproscopially (sp?). Neither would give me a definite "yes, it can be done that way" or wouldn't give me a percentage of chance that they could. Dr. Dobson said that since one of my tumors is so large (making my uterus the size of a 15 week pregnancy), he would doubt they could do it that way & recommended a bikini cut hysterectomy. I'd much rather have it done the way you did, but they say they won't know until they get in there. Since Dr. Dobson is my doctor & since he usually does the "cut through the abdomen" kind, I'm afraid he'll go ahead & do it because it will be easier for HIM to get to everything that way. But of course that will make it harder/longer for ME to recouperate. Any other information you could give me or any suggestions? I'd like to be able to ride to Panama City Beach at 4 weeks post op, but am worried now that I might not be able to. This has all stressed me out to no end & I am afraid. Thanks.

I used to go to Hewitt who I thought was a good surgeon but a bad practitioner - but have switched to Dr. Kasica and I found her to be more in tune with my personality and particular female issues.
I dont recall seeing any 'welfare' people in the office, and quite frankly, I dont care if they help people in need. I get the straight answers that I need from the woman, and she has a great bedside manner.
If you are from the north or the east coast you may have a hard time finding the right ob/gyn here. There are a few that have their own ideas about things.
Dr. Kasica doesnt seem to have those issues, I liked her very much.
And I am an insured, educated professional - not a welfare case.
What does a "welfare" person look like? I am just curious, never knew they looked a certain way?!
