I don't care how nice he was, the crazy man was loud and disruptive, he was a big nasty looking man and would yell at you for no reason, sure he may have been nice and couldn't control his actions, but a public mall was not the place for him to be entertained especially without supervision.
Excuse me pumpkin but im sure youre not a Spring chicken yourself and obviously not since you know who we are talking about. That man had dementia, but more specifically Alzheimers Disease. Never once did he harm anyone and more often than not he may have been saying jibberish or things that didnt make sense, but at least he was laughing. If you know anything about dementia and Alzheimers these people do not know what they are doing or saying. Its a shame that his family thought he could just be dropped off. Now can you pull the stick out of your rear and laugh a little yourself?? Bless your little heart!!

there are more freaks in the mall these days than there are at the circus. Look at the way most of the young ppl dress. piercings all over their body. Tattoos from one end to the other. Not to mention the weird ass clothes they wear. Sounds like the old man with the top hat was of the norm
Do they not meet your standard? What are you the fashion police? Now STFU and get back to watching matlock.

Alzheimer's or not, he was a whack job. In today's day and age these kinds of people should not be allowed to spend hours in a public mall although I'm sure every mall in the country has nutcases. Theres at least a mass murder each year such as the Colorado movie shooting. An individual like this man had so many red flags and malls are targets today for nutcases.

I haven't thought about him in years. My friends and I called him Mr. Mumbles. As I child, I always thought he was weird, but never scary. Now that I am an adult, I realize that he just had dementia and/or Alzheimer's disease and didn't know any better. I find it sad that this was how his caretaker chose to deal with him, however this may have been their only option. I suppose it's not fair to judge if one doesn't know the whole story.
On a lighter note, I have such great memories of hanging out at the mall on the weekend. Scrounging up change to get a "biggie fry" and soda at Wendy's...and sharing with at least four people! Cruising in circles out front...couldn't do that with current gas prices!

It depends on how you look at it. The guy was nuts and didn't belong in a mall. I remember as a child in the late 1980s, he would shout at me and my sister in the food court and she cried everytime she saw him. Back then mall security was non existent for those that remember all the cruising that went on in the parking lot. He would come and sit by you in the food court without asking.

If your over 25, you definately remember the crazy old man that was always at the mall in the late 1980s through the 1990s, he was probably in his 60s-70s and was the scariest guy I ever met. I remember when I was about 7 he came up to me and said a bunch of words that made no sense. I also remember him in the food court one time, this was 25 years ago and he said something to a black guy and the black guy knocked him down. The old man was scary as hell.

I was there one time when his brother came in. His brother started talking to him and he didn't recognize him. It really upset his brother. Felt sorry for both of them.

I never minded sitting with him in the food court, they loved him at the cookie store in the old location. He loved there coffee.

I remember him probably in the late 80s, how long was he a mall fixture? Im 43 now has it been that long..
