I have been on the wait list for 2 years now and still waiting to find out when I will get a voucher. When you call MSHDA to find out where you are at on the list, they try saying they don't know. I keep bugging them every other week. if I don't get my voucher by the end of November, then I am going to get my state rep and senator involved. See how quick they move then.

And this comment is to "Thank you". Some of us can't work because of disabilities. SO the section 8 helps alot and makes it easier for us to live a decent life. Before you make another comment like that, please think. Not everybody is lazy and don't wanna work. Some are unable to work.

My experience with disability has been laziness. Such disabilities that I've been told of has been obesity, anxiety and depression. All of which is bullshit. Not sure how you're disabled, sorry if it's legitimate but unless you're a quadriplegic you can do something and as long as you are trying, I'm 100 percent okay with government help.

This thread is already showing why Obama got elected. Keep the free stuff coming until it can't and then watch everyone be screwed.

Please don't take this as an attack, but I've often wondered where's the line between unable and unwilling to work? I am surrounded by people who sit in a cubicle all day answering phones. What kind of disability would make someone unable to do that? If you're this diligent about Section 8, imagine how successful you would be directing that at success in the workforce.

I'd rather the taxes that are taken out of my paycheck benefit other working individuals than people just wanting a free ride.

I have a friend who is confined to a wheelchair. He managed to obtain a college degree and works as an accountant. He's never been on disability, welfare, food stamps or anything.

Yet we have "depressed" pieces of crap jumping on disability and whores choosing to get pregnant to make more easy money.

These are the sad, horrible times that we are leaving in and it's only a matter of time before our government goes bankrupt from it.

What is your disability? You are typing on a computer. There are lots of jobs where that is all that you do.

There's a program for parents who receive money for their children if they can't get child support for whatever reason, where they work to keep receiving it. I think it should be required for able bodied people. Some incomes still fall under the qualifications to receive benefits, but if you're doing absolutely NOTHING, and you're physically capable, a job or something should be required. Even if it's folding up newspapers.

Some benefits help people get on their feet and become valuable members of the workforce. But of course, there are always the people who just don't want to do sh it

Be carefull when you comment, unless you can see all views and empathize with others maybe you shouldn't be on the page. Everybody has a different situation, many single-minded mothers were married and are now single mothers working a job and pursuing a nursing degree and still have a hard time making it. So some people are actually trying. I pray that you never fall on hard times.

My prayers go out to the people who have so many negative comments on this page. I pray prosperity to you and yours for generations to come because in the spiritual world the seeds you plant can sprout up anywhere at any time! Be blessed but the blessing are given for us to be a blessing. I use to run a community out reach program
and there are people that need these programs they need encouragement and support. And if there are so many jobs out there, help them by giving them leads not your narrow minded comments.

To those who wander why those on disability can't work, often times their health really does allow it. my dad worked all his young life and was hurt on the job he is one of those people that thinks you can always do something to earn a dollar well in the meantime he continues to make his injury worse. Its been years and the doctors keep warning him about how severe his disability is but he doesn't listen. I pray that the day doesnt come that we find him totally unable to function on his own.

Now I know my view is for the people having hard tlmes, however, section 8 and all government programs should be a temp situations unless you are elderly or really disabled. That's why it is so hard for new clients to get section 8 because there are family generations that are on it but actually can work and I must admit it burns me up to ride through places that are low income based and see all the expensive cars, trucks, suv's and clothing when I am struggling to keep my town and country running and my kids in nice inexpensive clothing while working and going to school just needing section 8 to assist me until I obtain my degree and not have to constantly be away from my babies. There are many women out there in my situation got married had kids and never thought they would be single parents and that the dad wouldn't be held just as responsible as the mom to assure a good quality of life for children they both created. To those out there really trying, keep pressing on, trust God and be blessed.

well well isn't this thread a pretty lot! you have some hollering gimme and some hollering lazy. truth is it is probably somewhere in the middle. I worked for years and raised my 2 boys alone, we rented housing that bad wiring and when it rained we had to move the bed to the middle of the room to avoid the leaks. a lot of jobs do not provide a living wage that is what section 8 is for -to help. instead of getting mad at a poor person get mad that millions are given to corporations and yes that is welfare too
