I wouldn't go to the er at the Medical Center if you payed me! My husband and I took our 8 month old son there at 5 a.m. for trouble breathing and high fever. After doing several chest x-rays they determined he has asthma . The er doctor gave us a liquid antibiotic and it didn't help him at all. 12 hours later at 5 p.m. we took him back to the er and a different doctor did more chest x-rays well guess what?!?! He has pneumonia in both lungs and they admit him right away. Now this was on a weekend before any of you start with why are using a ER as a doc's office! It was on a Saturday morning 5 a.m. After that experience I will NEVER go the er at the Medical Center again

no. It was actually nothing like that. Who do you think you are implying that all I wanted was drugs anyways? You worthless pathetic excuse for a human being. Get a life. Or actually why don't you just kill yourself as a favor to the human race.

They're more likely to help the uninsured.

No one at either hospital cares which ER you go to. If its critical enough, chances are you will be transferred out of town or even possibly from Greenview to the Med Center.
Truth is, people have turned emergency rooms into a doctors office. Stop complaining about a 4 hour wait time for your stupid toothache. You may be having to wait for a long time because someone is actually dying. Your tooth hurting is not an emergency and certainly doesn't require immediate care. There are far too many people using emergency rooms for complaints that aren't even close to being emergent and a lot of it is due to pure ignorance.

On to a more important discussion, did someone say hotties in scrubs? I know one up there on nights but keep striking out with her. Got several up there worth taking home though.

There are a lot of people who are using the ER as a GP because if they don't have health insurance and are unemployed, they can file for assistance and most of the time can get the bill COMPLETELY written off.

I took my mom to medical center with pain in her back. I was answering the question because she was in so much pain an could pay attention to anyone. Because she didn't give them her attention, they started treating her for a stroke. They drugged her, admitted her in the hospital an said her file would go to a Dr. who will see her the next morning. The next day that Dr. came in and was update because she was NOT having a stroke. Medical Center made sure she paid that bill but never said it was their fault or credit her for their mistake.
If this had of been my mother (who is a stroke victim), I would have much rather they admitted her to monitor her than to send her home and her have a stroke at home. With her unable to pay attention to the person asking her questions, they did the best thing for your mother by admitting her. As far as "pain in her back" being so bad that she couldn't pay attention, that is very odd, not a normal response to pain.

Why would you expect a hospital, any hospital, to say admitting your mother for a possible stroke was their mistake or their fault? They were only treating your mother's symptoms. Doctors are not God and can only go by the symptoms presented and the information given by either the patient/family.

You have to be treated if you are in danger of losing life or limb, or if you are in active labor (EMTALA). We can and have told people to go see their PCP after their medical screening exam revealed they did not have an emergent situation.

Exactly. The people without insurance or the ones on Medicaid are the ones who bitch the most. They like to complain about the four hour wait times, yet they want to be treated. What they fail to remember is that everyone else is afforded the same rights under EMTALA as they are, so yeah, they may be waiting.

Good point
Not really a good point last time i was at the MC they took me into a waiting area before I was put into a room to see the doctor and there was a trash can with vomit still in it. Then when I was put in a room the sheet on the bed was wrinkled and had shoe prints on it so they didn't even changed the beding before putting me in the room. So as far as you thinking you know every f**king thing because your smart a** works there, think again. How about you stop judging people when every case is different and your hospital suxs rocks!! lol Not to meantion the staff. Doctors theere are GREAT and by staff I mean Smart A** RN that think they are F**king DOCTORS!!

Its not a damn bit of your business what they use it for, what is your business because you WORK there is to do YOUR job and keep your damn mouth shut. Some kids that are in college and have dead beat dads that was suppose to keep insurance on them but they dropped the ball and the mom cant afford coverage. So shut your face and do your job.
