The donuts aren't made fresh at the store, which is part of the reason they suck. If you are looking for fantastic donuts, I like Great American Donut Shop. I hear some people like Dixie Cream Donuts, but I prefer GADS.

Hot Krispy Kremes were my favorite but they have gone on the gold standard and priced themselves out of my market.

Sigh. You don't go to DD for the doughnuts, go there for the coffee, and especially their muffins, which are huge, delicious and reasonably priced.

Krispy Kremes are great, but the closest store to BG is just outside of Nashville. When I want a donut, I don't have the patience to travel for them. LOL

Pick some up when you travel but they are not quite as good as they used to be before the trans fat problems and they had to quit using lard and palm oil.

Okay heres the deal. Some like some dont like. Everyones personal tastes are different. I used to work there and heres some info about the place. The place is very clean and well maintained. About the donuts. Yes it is true that the donuts are not as good as the ones that are made fresh from scratch and deep fried and served warm. A good example was Dixie Cream Donuts back in the day. I worked there as well back in the day. We made the dough from scratch and cut our own donuts and proofed them and then fried them and glazed them or whatever the type was going to be. We made our cake donuts from scratch as well. Mixed up the batter and had a machine that spit out cake donuts or cruellers. But even there, you could still get a crappy donut if the cook over proofed the donuts. They would soak up a ton of grease when you fried them. I used to complain about them all the time. You could take a fresh fried donut from the frier and squeeze it and grease would freely run from it. The deal at dunkin is that unless you are an ungodly huge store usually in a huge city, the sales from the store didnt justify the expense of the cost for all that equipment. So what they do is somewhere dunkin has a factory that makes the donuts and flash freezes them. Then they are boxed up frozen and sent to the stores. Then at the stores they are thawed, reheaten, and then processed according to the type. Are they as good as a freshly made donut? Of course not. Most of them come close to fresh made though. The bagels come in as dough and they are baked fresh. And the muffins come in as batter already in the cups and they are baked. Everything except the donuts are baked fresh at the store. And yes the muffins kick ass. And yes, the coffee is the best. In terms of healthy food. And because the donuts are made in a factory, the consistency of quality is better than what you will find at a smaller shop. But yes I agree, they cant beat a freshly made donut. Some like the place, some dont. Cant we respect each other in that sense? And yes Taylor is effin cool also.

Actually, it means they at least have a job, and aren't a drain on the economy. Can you say the same? Let me guess before you say it...you have a degree in XXX and make 60,000+ a year doing XXX so im better at you and blah blah blah...save it. I already know you are lying. Yes, I do want fries with my order, thank you, but no, don't large size it, I do not want to look like you.

Dixie Cream back in the day was awesome!!!!! The last time it switched owners is when the taste changed! They use different flour or something. I wish somebody could show them what they are doing wrong....from what we were use to. I loved that place! Nothing better than a hot Dixie Cream!
