I read this story in the BGDN and it seems like high hopes considering they cannot even pave the parking lot by the baseball stadium.

With current city commission a gravel lot. With bill waltrip a little gravel on every drive. Vote for bill and robin baldwin. Winning pair.

Just seems like there are more pressing issues within this community than renovating the dead downtown area.... In these times, tax money needs to be spent wisely, and not used to push someone's political aspirations.... Just my 2 cents...

Since the city is buying a parking garage for WKU can't WKU pave the lot by the ballpark.

Can we land the Hillvue rocket ship on the new parking lot?

if no city taxes are being used, why do you give a crap? The city isn't doing jack crap up there. No tax dollars only bond money and wku lease payments.
perhaps paying attention would help.

I don't care who paves the parking lot but a gravel lot nearly in the middle of downtown looks like crap. As a city taxpayer I do give a crap about what is going on "up there." You sound like one of the Gary Ransdell Kool-Aid drinking zombies.

The gravel lot is just being used temporarily for parking. It is anticipated that this lot would be developed some time in the future. Seems kind of stupid to spend tax dollars to pave it and then turn around and take it up to build a building. Use some common sense people.

Why bother with common sense at this point? Considering the city's tendancy to build things for Western or to provide sweetheart land deals for them at our expense. There is a need for parking downtown and the city has opted to move the parking structure (planned for downtown) to Western. So, why not pave this lot near the center of downtown rather than leave an eyesore. Someone can still build on it later when Western takes over the ballpark.

I noticed our glorious city commission, albeit a split vote, has approved the pipe dream of building a hotel for Western. And yes, the gravel lot remains unpaved, with weeds growing, and an eyesore.

The city hasn't moved anything. The city wasn't building a parking structure, and they're still not building a parking structure.

If you feel there is a great need for one close to Fountain Square and you think that the city should pay for it, then you should go to the next city commission meeting and explain that to them. There is a public comments opportunity at the start of each meeting.

Personally, I'm kind of glad that the city's not building a parking structure anywhere.

You are incredibly uninformed, aren't you? The entire grand plan of the "TIF" involved the ballpark and TWO parking structures surrounded by retail in the DOWNTOWN area. Ask the folks who attended meetings about pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area. Geez, the meetings were open and included drawings and models.

Do you not also remember how the "TIF" would pay for EVERYTHING and the taxpayers would be off the hook? You sound like someone who works for WESTERN.

It is the classic example of the buddy system with the current group downtown. I applaud Mayor Walker and Commissioner Denning for demanding facts prior to giving in to Western's bid for the parking garage.

We all know Catherine Hamilton (refuse to call her commissioner) will do whatever Mary Cohron or Bruce tell her to do. Has anyone figured out Commissioner Wilkerson's motives for jumping on the Western band wagon?

I would like to know why you and other rednecks are so adamantly anti WKU. Were you not smart enough to get accepted there?
