UNION YES

This is my first & last time on this site. I have heard the hype about this site at work and the things being said about Bowling green metalforming so I am going to put in my 2cents. I am in the maintenance department and I respect the assembly workers.(well not all of them but most, but i don't respect all maintenance either) I believe you guys are under paid! I believe you should be paid in the 19 to 20 dollar an hour range. After all the Bowling Green assembly & maint workers are paid 5 dollars an hour less than the average of all North American Magna Plants excluding Mexico. It's true do the research! Also, we are a tier 2 supplier to Ford and I know the economy sucks right now but Magna Corp is still knockin down the jack and regardless of what people say at work BGM is still a pretty profitable plant just not as profitable as they would like it to be. But big corporations can never make enough money. Also, I totally support the union and yes I am in maintenance. I dont wear buttons or holler it out but I do. I believe we will have a union Im not sure when but we will. Magna will see to that because they are going to eventually screw over everyone. They are already well on their way. I am not for the union because of money or benefits but for fairness. I have been a union member before and our fairness comittee ( which i have been a part of) and our eos groups cannot hold a candle to a union. Actually they are a joke especially the position of employee advocate that is the biggest joke of all. Oh and the magna charter it is a great thing if they would actually go by it instead of just using it as a conversation piece and as wall paper. Don't get me wrong I like my job it's the unfairness & bad policy's and bad management and lying the i hate. BGM has turned out to be the worst place I have ever worked. Everyone needs to get on UAW.org and go to their organizing link and send them an email to please hurry and come back or call 1 800 2-get uaw.

If wanting a union had nothing to do with money, then why did you bring up assembly and maintenance is underpaid? I have worked at better and worse places than this, so I don't really agree on the union. Why don't people ask the union to put in writing that they will get more money and benefits if they elect them in.

First of all I am not a 'company man'. I work to support my family not to kiss butt to get one leg higher on the ladder. If I can't prove myself with my work ethic then I'll go elsewhere. I'd say 60% to 70% of the workers at BGM are the laziest I've seen. These people come to work with the attitude the the company owes them something. They don't owe you anything! You work for them. They pay you to work so get off your lazy butts and WORK. That is why it is called WORK. There are so many that have no function other than holding up the orange bins. Everyone has the attitude, "its not my job". Well guess what. If we don't change they way we do business they will shut the damn place down. We have failed so far. If we don't get our shit together and help make this place successful we will all be at chestnut street. There are lazy people in EVERY department. Materials is leading the pack with Assembly in a close second. Don't get me wrong there are people that do take pride in their job and try to make a difference. As far as maintenance goes, the assembly group is pretty bad. They are sitting in the break room when you get there and they're still there when you leave. You can't tell me there isn't anything for you to do. Oh yeah, don't forget about the facilities group. The press department has some lazy mofos too. There are guys on dayshift that have been there over 3 years and couldn't run 1 press to save there pitifull little lives. Now that is frickin' sad. I would hate to think that after 3 years all I could do is stack parts in a bin. I said it a while ago. Its about time people started taking a little pride in their jobs. Its not just here at BGM, it is everywhere. Stop acting like someone owes you something and start working for it.

Oh yeah, the UAW. The only thing they will do is make it easier for the lazy bums to get by with being lazy. Pick up your slack loser and stick that money you'll waste on union dues in your 401k.

I may be mistaken but sounds like you may be in our press dept. The reason I think this is how else would you know about another's business. When you say there is some that has been there for over 3 yrs and still can't run it. Maybe your one of those people your referring to as being lazy and all that cause you seem to know more about whats others are or are not doing. Maybe you need to wash the brown off your nose and try minding your own business since your a A+++employee. Your right about one thing, We work for BGM, So when you start issuing out the payroll maybe we will give a damn what you think. I think your in the wrong line of work. Maybe you should think about going into politics,Cause both are full of shit. I expect you to comment back but dont bother replying to me cause I have already stated what I think of you. I could care less what you think of me,You insulted a whole lot of workers and pin pointed who you could care less about and I'm not in either dept, but people like you make me sick.

I think it is amazing that everyone seems to be so high on our new general manager, juergen. just goes to show that the majority of the employees don't know how to think for themselves and question what they are being told. for example, juergy tells us that everyone will come in at the same time and get off at the same time. he makes everyone beleive that it is to benefit the employees by doing so. tells us that we only get 2 breaks from now on, but the good news is that we get a 20 min and a 35 min break that is paid for. everyone gets all excited and starts applauding with out thinkin about what that meant. now we work damn near 3 hours with out a break instead of 2 hours. and he also failed to mention that half the plant would be going to break at the same time. so there goes you'r extra 5 minutes sitten in line at the cafeteria. so basicly he took a break from us and everyone was happy to hear it. he did it cause it gives more production time on the lines. think about it, they loose a minute to 2 minutes at the end of every break when people come back to start up the lines. thats 6 to 7 frames a day that we didn't produce due to breaks. so now its down to 4 or 5. smart buisness move. do you really think that he cares more about the people and there needs then he does the buisness? i doubt it. don't get me wrong, i think he is doing alot of good things as far as "buissness" goes. but every decision he makes is for "THE COMPANY", not the employees. so every time he comes out and shakes your hand remember, you could be the next person he sends out the door.

Looks like I struck a nerve. The only ones I insulted are the ones that come to work and don't give a shit. If your one of them then I guess I insulted you too. To the ones that don't care, take a yellow vest on your way out the door and go help the guys at Wal-mart collect shopping carts!

Have you people ever went to think that the decisions Jeurgan and the rest of the steering team make is of course for the COMPANY is also for the employees. It is all business. Yes, they should care about the employees but the best way they can care about us is to make sure we are producing frames...good quality frames safely. If we do not have work, produce frames, good quality frames and get them to the customer on time; we will not have jobs. And most of all we need jobs! Jobs to provide for our families and our livlihoods. As long as we all are treated fair, with respect, and given safe work to do we shouldn't worry about anything else except doing our jobs the best we can and try to make sure we have secure jobs better product for better price. Go to break on time, come back on time, and be glad to have the breaks you have, and go home at 2:35. If you want someone to genuinly care about you, go to a psychologist, couslor, or to church. You go to work to work and make money. Do your best at what you have to do and quit complaining and be glad to have a job! Maint., Assy, Materials, Press, Quality, Engineering, IT, Purchasing, Finanace, HR, whoever, quit bickering. Do your jobs, get along...work together as a team, don't matter what dept. or position we're all here to make frames or products and for the company to make money so we can make money so we can provide for our families and have a job for years to come and for one day retire so we can enjoy life and possilby go to the nursing home so someday will give a damn about you, wipe your ass, wait on you hand and foot, like you want people to do for you at BGM.Sounds about like what you do for babies too, uh? Grow up and quit whining!

In comment to "magna owned". If you were listening when Juergen announced the schedule change, he did say it benifted both the company and employee. Company has more opportunity to get more frames and the employees gain 25 minutes per day at home. That was not a hidden agenda.
