you should not be allowed to buy tobacco products, alcohol, or lottery tickets. If you really need food stamps, you would give these things up to feed you and your family. You should not be allowed to get cable/internet service in your name....go to the library, or look for a job instead of sitting around all day watching Honey Boo Boo on DVR!! You should not be allowed to "adopt pets" from the humane society or anywhere else....quit spending your cash on animals, and spend it on your family!! Then we will see who really needs help or not....what do you think? This proposal would save our country billions, and force these lazy entitled people to get off their ass to earn their privileges back!! Call it the Pride Law/Bill:)

I have the soapbox out now....Make everybody scan their ID for tobacco/alcohol/lottery purchases....you will be flagged to the cashier if you receive foodstamps. Scan your ID at the end of the year while filling out your taxes, and get $100 if you don't have any tobacco purchases....and $100 if you don't have any alcohol purchases. This will keep clean folks from buying tobacco/alcohol for them. I have more....can I get another AMEN?

As much as I agree with your post it would cost more dor the government to try and enforce rules like that. Bit take it from someone that works in the grocery business. What they need to do and wouldn't cost more money for tax payers is cut out all the damn cokes, snacks, chips and junk food! There is nothing like seeing people at the first of the month push up a cart with 4 12 packs, bags of chips, and lunchablesand 2 or 3 boxes of little debbies! The one thing a lot of people don't know is.all that crap gets taxed but as soon as you swipe that card the tax is taken off!

Instead of a Government handout, why don't you give up your FILTHY habit, put that money toward your family and stop polluting their bodies with toxins?

You say you pay in...You pay into what exactly? The National Food Stamp Fund?

What's sad is that these people are allowed to reproduce and vote!

If you smoke a pack a day...that's approx $150 a month. What decision would you make if the gubment said...if you buy tobacco, you get whatever amount you spend deducted from your EBT card. And you don't feed your family, they gubment does if you get foodstamps, you just admitted it dumbass mooch!

Just because you have food stamps means you can't buy cokes, chips, a little extra? If you ask me that's providing for a family and also making them happy. If you were on food stamps I know for a damn fact you wouldn't be getting just bread and cheese or Kroger brand.

Create large Sams Club like Food Stamp only grocery stores. Set them up as Co-Ops with only good, whole foods, fresh produce, and essentials available. Offer transportation, and flexible hours. These stores will be the only place you can spend your food stamps, and must match ID and EBT card at the door. This would stop foodstampers from selling their $500 for $200 worth of pills from the local drug dealer. No Sodas, Ding Dongs, or any other unhealthy, brand named items. Support yourself if you want those things, don't get fatter and have us pay more of your healthcare bills....which you get for free as well probably. Why are these solutions no already in place....How many times have you seen a "needy" person buy overpriced Doritos and Pepsi 2 Liters at a gas station, then pull out their wad of cash for blunts and lottery?

@westside.....beggars can't be choosers.....if you get food stamps from the government, you are a beggar. You are giving up your freedoms, have no pride, ruining our country with that thinking, and should move to a socialist country!! You should be ashamed of yourself....bum

You need to research The Declaration of Independence. Nowhere does it state that we're ENTITLED to happiness: Its all about the PURSUIT of happiness. This is what's wrong with your country: Too many people have a sense of entitlement.

Break & cheese? No! There are plenty of nutritional ways to feed family on a budget. I would want to make that money go as far as humanly possible and make the most of it, but I guess the point here is that **I'M** NOT on food stamps.

Dang 150 bucks a month dude that would buy weed for a month not cigarettes, I smoke, mine are 2.99 a pack so I think that figures to $21.00 a week. anybody that would spend 150 bucks a month on anything that isnt good for you would be weird in the first place! LOL

Who's going to decide what is healthy and what isn't healthy. Too much of anything can be unhealthy for you. I have a recipe for roast in a crock pot that uses a 12 oz can of coke as part of the ingredients. I also make a Mexican casserole that calls for crushed up tortilla chips.(There are several recipes out there similar that might call for an unhealthy item.)

So using your theory, If I received food stamps, which I don't, I couldn't make my roast, which is pretty healthy, how I wanted to, because it calls for a can of Coke. Or I couldn't make my layered Mexican casserole because it calls for Dorito's

Your idea and concept is flawed from the concept and will never come to pass. That is called discrimination which comes from a place of ignorance which you clearly show.

I have to get to work now.

..or for argument's sake, you could just change your recipes.:p

Mexican casserole? I feel like you've missed the entire point. I think the original poster was talking about making sacrifices because you can't afford to take care of yourself and or your family. I'm not sure if sacrificing your favorite pot roast and Mexican casserole count as sacrifices.

I don't mind paying taxes....but it's not fair that people on food stamps abuse them. I don't mind helping legit folks who need food stamps. They would be the first ones to give up tobacco/alcohol/lottery if that was the only way to get them. No accountability!!! It's basically stealing, and too hard to track them down. That's why my solutions would work. The gubment should require a certain amount of community service to receive food stamps, like cleaning up trash or licking stamps if they are too fat. The word of the day is Job....J O B!!

Not all people who receive food stamps abuse them there are women out there who are actually trying to make it and give their children a better life. I work and I don't mind giving people who really need it a hand up but however I do think there should be a time limit on food stamps same as unemployment benefits you don't get to stay on unemployment forever you shouldn't get food stamps forever.

No one said they did. I'm glad you're working to better yourself and I hope you succeed and can lead by example for others to follow.
