If you used this guy, contact a lawyer - I'm sure the authorities would love to put more charges on him. This was on Channel 5 out of Nashville last night!

Investigators: Tax Attorney Stole Thousands From Clients

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A former tax attorney was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from his clients.
U.S. marshals arrested Mark Chestnut in Mount Juliet.
Authorities searched for him since late last year. Investigators think he was able to evade arrest by moving throughout several areas in Middle Tennessee.
Chestnut worked for years as a tax attorney in Bowling Green, Ky., according to investigators.
Victims said Chestnut scammed clients out of hundreds of thousands of dollars by taking checks intended to be sent to the Internal Revenue Service. He is accused of depositing those checks into his personal bank account instead.
It is unclear how many people he scammed, but Tony Congiardo said Chestnut took a $250,000 from him over a seven-year period.
Congiardo helped the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force find Chestnut in Mount Juliet.
He met Chestnut in Bowling Green. He said Chestnut did his taxes for seven years.
"He took cashier's checks that were addressed to the IRS," Congiardo said, "and deposited them into his bank."
Chestnut faces 10 felony charges including theft, forgery and money laundering charges.
Authorities said he is not related to country singer Mark Chesnutt.
Investigators said he Chesnut lost his license to practice law in Kentucky and was disbarred.

Unfortunately I've had dealings with him too...I hope he rots in the pen for the rest of his life....I'd like to choose his cellmate for him. People don't realize how bad he really is; much worse than just stealing money.

This kid is a very bad egg. His life of crime is finally catching up with him. Anyone that ever knew him has a war story to tell.

I haven't seen Chesnut in years, but knew him "back in the day" and he wasn't a bad guy at all. Fun, helpful, cared about his friends. It's sad his life took such a turn. Obviously, he's not the same person he was, but I can't help but wonder what went wrong and hope he survives this to turn his life around.

I, too, knew Mark years ago, and agree that the man described in the news reports and in the first few posts above is a far cry from the sensitive, considerate young man I knew then. My heart goes out to him, his family and friends. And I pray that they will stand firmly beside him and provide him the support he will need on the long road ahead.

Chestnut has no family or friends to support him (because he has ripped them off too). No one should or will stand by him. He deserves nothing but prison. You have no idea what all he has done. Don't waste your pity on the creep.

yes, it's better....it's hard to forgive when someone steals hundreds of thousands of dollars from you...you wouldn't be so quick to forgive either!! Trust me.

Lair, cheat, really ugly person inside but he tries very hard not to let anyone see that side and does a great job at it. He should have been an actor he would have mad a good living at it and probably took home a Grammy! You stick around him long enough and you'll see. He also has lots of deep dark I repeat "DARK' secrets. He comes between peoples friendships and family ties with his well thought out lies. Turns best of friends against one another. Don't let the well spoken kind character fool you or you're the fool!!

I knew his sister Nancy, just a little I do know he was living with her when she died. He happened to be out of town...Odd Odd Odd.
Yes I have lot of stories I have tried to piece it all together in my mind but unless everyone who knew him got together and compared stories no one will every know what was true or what was a lie.

I would like to talk to you because he had so many people that believed in him but all the while I kept seeing things that were going on that weren't right. It took me a long time to really start figuring him out. He lied more than anyone I've ever known. I spent enough time with him to see things and hear things when he didn't think I was paying attention. I confronted him several times he stuck to his lies. I have to say he was very good at it but obviously not good enough.

the deal with Nancy was odd too. He lied about her death as well, as far as dates, where he was, etc. I have my thoughts about that situation too. He did not want anyone to know she had passed for several reasons.

He was in Vegas or California one of the two. He knew what bad shape she was in and just left her with no one to take care of her.

he told around here that he was in TN. My vote is that he was there when it happened. I am by no means a fan of her, she was as bad as him or worse, however, I have a funny feeling he was there.

I know for a fact he was out west because he left his car at someones house, I know the person, like he did every time he flew out west. He left on a Wed. or Thurs. and she stopped answering her phone on Fri. "he did nothing" then he returned on Sun., if I'm not mistaken, and found her dead. I didn't know her personally very well. But he kept his sister and brothers lives to himself as much as possible he was ashamed of them. He should have taken a long look in the mirror!!
