I have found out if you don't drank, smoke or do drugs your not allow to have friends here in Bowling Green or is it that ppl are to busy.I came from a small town and things were lot different there.Life is to short to be in a hurry all the time,it will make you old before your time so every one needs to lighten up a little and not be stressing all the time.Hope no one takes this wrong way no harm intended.

I agree, we've lived here for a short few months and I've found it difficult to make friends here! Back home there was always something going on!

I don't think it's neccessarily the town, or the drugs and alcohol. I'm from here so of course I know tons of people. My BF and I moved here from Glasgow where we had lived for 3 yrs. and I was miserable, so home sweet home to BG. It might just be that you are looking for friendship in the wrong places and finding people that you wouldn't otherwise associate with. There are a lot of cliques in this town and it seems that everyone knows everyone. But the downtown scene is always happening and you don't have to be a drinker...we go to play pool. There are festivals on the square, mini-golf, southern lanes has something for anyone. I actually work at one of the Chuck's Liquors, and we have wine tastings on Fri & Sat. that are a huge hit. Just people of different walks of life mingling and trying some wines. You'd be surprised how many people come by. But it may just take you coming out of your shell a little. I hope you don't find this town miserable for long and things get better.

The reason i move here is because i got this job here and i guess you know there not to many good paying to go around plus gas is one factor also plus wear and tear on my wheels. After beening here for about 6 weeks now and with nothing to do here on weekends if i'm not working i just lock the door and live just in my own little world plus i do not know how to get around to go places so i choose just stay home.Whole lot safer at home any way but thank you for yr return message have a nice day.

I moved here 2 years ago and I have found it takes time to meet people and make friends. Everyone seems friendly, but you are right about the cliques. I don't know how many times I have been listening to conversations talking about or with someone else they just saw or know in Bowling Green. I've never been in a place where everyone knew each other! Whether thats bad or good, I don't know.

Are you sure you aren't boring?:p

Most people make friends from work, class, neighbors, etc. Several of my friends around BG I met that way, and they met their friends that way too.

But really, I think making new friends sucks. I'm none to fond of many who want to 'befriend' me and some of my old friends I'm still trying to figure out how to get rid of.

I'm a stay at home Mom, now the kids have activities but most of the Moms don't really interact with eachother. I'm really out going but a lot of people just seem so standoffish

The town I just moved from has an entire forum, much larger than this full of stuff. I met a lot of people because of that forum and they are some of my closest friends. I wish there was something more like that here!

Has for not knowing how to get around...the bf that I referred to previously felt the same way. Me, having lived her for 20/23 yrs. of my life, know just about anywhere. But he's found that just getting out and getting lost has helped. There really is no way to get lost in BG. Just get out there and drive it.

I soo agree too. I just moved to bowling green, ky a few months ago from Sterling, Va. I thought making friends in Virginia was difficult than here, but it is the total opposite. I'm at a loss because I don't drink, I CAN'T smoke because I'm allergic to smoke and tobacco. I just want to have friends so my other friends from Va would stop asking me to go out and make them... I keep telling them its not that easy.. but anyway. I'm lost into what to do

Yeah I agree with alot of you but heck if you don't drink or do drugs or party in this town your just bored to death. Pick a habit and stick with it. You'll do fine, and hey don't give up. Always remember momma didn't raise no quiter.

I was a stay at home mom too when I moved to BG. I have lived here 4 years now but I have a lot of friends. There are so many things to do with your kids and in turn, you will meet moms. There is a local Moms Club you can join and everyone is great. They have numerous activities each month and they are almost all SAHMs. You can also meet moms at the parks or indoor play places (i.e. Hopscotch Playplace) or local events. You just have to get out there.

There are a couple of free magazines that come out that I always look in to see what's happening, Bowling Green Parent and SOKY Happenings.

Hope this helps!!
