needing a job

I've been a CNA for the Medical Center for 4 years. I've heard that Sky pays better than any of the other CNA jobs in Bowling Green. Anyone know what the average salary is there for CNA?

My advise stay at Med Center Sky pays only 8.75 for full time if you are PRN then it's 12.50 and you can't get any hours!! Worst place in Bowling Green to work the nurses won't help and the manager will make you take 12-13 pts during the day!!

I agree- your patient load is much larger with less help and not as great of benefits. I think the med center is one of the highest, and if on night shift, higher!

Here's more to why you shouldn't work at SKY. The medical care provided there is horrible. The doctor is a joke (no seriously, he is a joke); he has his nurse practitioner do all the work, and she's just not very bright. Sure, anyone who works hard can get through nursing school, but she lacked the ability to truly understand medical situations. They pumped me full of meds that I simply didn't need (I refused to take them after the second day.) The meds they give you are designed to keep you in a mental fog so you won't realize how bad their service is. There is a redhead wench that works there in the physical therapy department, and she likes to control everything you do (not just during the 20 minutes she is doing "therapy").

The place is supposed to be a rehabilitation facility, but 2 days out of the week they provide zero therapy to their patients, but still collect $1,000 a day from the insurance company. They are supposed to provide a minimum of three hours of therapy per day, yet even on the days they do therapy, they don't do three hours worth. They will try to keep you for as long as your insurance will pay, and the moment your insurance runs out, they kick you out whether you are ready to go or not (happened to a lady I know). As for me, I had to call someone to come get me and hobble to the car w/o any help from their people, they didn't want me to go because my insurance was really good and would have paid for 40 days ....

The facility sucks. The TV sets in the rooms are 30 years old and have a horrible picture. There are no earbuds, so your roommate has to listen to what you are watching, and vice versa (so you can't watch TV if the other person is sleeping). There is no wireless access, so you can't use your laptop to do e-mail or look up stuff about your medical condition (so you can know for sure they are messing up your care in a big way).

They have a so-called wound care expert. I’ve seen her picture in the BG Daily News. But the truth is, she is no more an expert than I am ... she just had a $10 name tag with the words “wound care expert" on it. The hospital does NOT have the nano-silver bandages to prevent infection, so they put Vaseline on some yellow paper and put that on the wound instead. I asked them to go get some silver bandages like the hospital had used, but they refused (because it costs about $100 bucks for the nano-silver bandage). After the wound care "expert" took off the bandages the hospital had put on, then LEFT MY WOUND OPEN FOR OVER AN HOUR so all the other people could come look at it (how unprofessional can you get). As most anyone knows, a hospital environment is full of nasty bacteria, and leaving a would open for an hour in a place like that is a horrible thing for a "wound care expert" to do. Needless to say, the next day the wound had blown up into the biggest blister I had ever seen anywhere (not even in a fake horror movie had I ever seen anything like that). Before the wound care expert did her "expert" work, all I had was a long cut with stitches. So, it's been over a year, and long after all the reasons I was needing a "rehab" hospital have passed and I'm back to work full time, I still have an very ugly open wound where that "expert" messed it all up. Thank God that the hospital gave instructions that the bandages over the area that had surgery not be removed until I visited the Specialist for a follow-up visit, else I would have had two or three more open wounds today.

If you need basic rehab services after a surgery or an accident, go out to Greenwood Rehab next to Greenwood High School. If you are really messed up, like a bad accident, you would probably be best off to go to Vanderbilt's Stallworth Rehab Center, where they are used to working with major injuries. If you are not an "old" person, you definitely go to Stallworth; they are used to working with athletes and other folks who are young and were healthy and solid prior to the accident.

HIPAA doees not apply to cause of death. Cause of death ends up on a death certificate, and death certificates are public record.

And no, it is not "hippa" ... you must be one of the dummies that works there.

Hello disgruntled. Sorry your experience was bad. Maybe you should try addressing the place in which you are displeased as opposed to speaking about things that are for the most part untrue. Every place has a procedure for reporting complaints. Why don't you try that. And by the way nursing school is very difficult and only those who truly want to help others and are willing to work hard make it through.

It is definitely not the worse place in BG to work. The wound care "specialist" and the therapists are actually some of the best around!

I know a girl that worked at sky for two years. They overpaid her and finally figured it out and wanted her to pay the company back. Over 22,000.00 dollars.
