REALLY??? Are you really bashing a non-profit organization? Habitat helps ANYONE who meets their qualifications of need, income and wiliness to partner. Most of the people that I know that live in habitat built home are AMERICAN families.... husband, wife, children.... This is a life changing experience for anyone who is able to help built their future. BLESS YOUR HEART!

Those houses are a joke in the ghetto 125,000 for a 3 bed 1 bath 1200 square foot house you have to build most of it yourself and pay for it I was approved in did not accept the house the only good thing is no interest

LOL You have your numbers wrong. Houses are worth like $80k but you only end up paying a little over $50k. Not to mention while you build your home, you learn how to fix things that may come up... The ghetto... it might be but Habitat is doing a great job of cleaning that area up. LOL but go ahead and keep paying rent(double what a Habitat monthly mortgage is & and probably in the middle of the ghetto).... by the time your able to afford to buy a home, those people should be close to paying off theirs and have their credit in place to buy better than what you can even start with... So sad people hate on such a great thing! Good job Habitat!!!!

I don't live in the ghetto I don't pay double of 350 dollars a month to live I have great credit therefore I can buy home it's not in the ghetto it sounded really great until we got into pricing and my backyard was a railroad track and I would prefer not have crackheads sitting on my porch smoking at a crack pipe at any given time my children will not even be able to go outside do you know how bad the neighborhood is where they build those homes I bet you really have no idea have you ever heard the saying don't go over the railroad tracks yeah I chose not to take the home I had the down payment I had the closing fees I had the time to volunteer to build it all of that is used material what is the house going to be worth in 25 years after paying it off maybe 25 to 30,000 if that. so you to get your number straight dummy

To the person who made the "across the R/R tracks comment:

I understand your concerns. I grew up in the country myself, having my nearest neighbors 1/2 mile away. But, just as I was starting WKU, the engine on my car blew up. But, since I couldnt afford another car for a little while, yet I still wanted to go to WKU, I moved in with my brother and sister in law, into a little house on Clay Street. Most of you know it is "on the wrong side of the tracks".

I don't know WHAT I was expecting when I moved in there, but all of my preconcieved notions were bad. I do remember that! But, in all of the time I lived there, the people around us could not have been any nicer! In fact, the only "problem"I had at all with any of them,(if you could even call it that", was that anytime we were outside on our porch, several kids would stop by to chat,(probobly b/c they could tell I really like kids.) And anytime we hae a visitor, I would always offer them a soda, and if was a child, I always gave them each a sucker from the bowl of candy i kept just for them. So, after a while, I had so many little friends, so I kinda started to get the feeling they were coming by just for drinks and candy! LOL@

So yeah, my neighbors were great! Actually I had better neighbors there than in alot of the much nicer places that I have lived. So pls dont ever judge the quality of the person based on the quality of the neighborhood!
