I was wondering if anyone has any information regarding what kind of rules the kids that are placed here have to go by, and what is required of them in order to earn visitation privelidges? A friend of mine's son was just placed there and any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It is not a good place to be. My son was put there about 5 years ago for speeding and he hated it. He had to sit at a table with his feet on the floor and hands on the table for hours. If he moved them then he was in trouble. They have the rules posted on the wall and they have to go by everyone of them. He did not move so I do not know what the punishment would have been. He sat and wacthed a bird on the sky light. He never did anything to ever go back there. It was hard on him but it stopped him from ever going back there again. He was there over night.

You don't go to juvenile detention or jail for JUST SPEEDING!!! You get a ticket for speeding. There is MORE To this story that you are telling. Tell the whole truth and then maybe someone will feel sorry for you and your child.

Your probably right about the speeding thing but what if he were driving at the age of 12?

anyway the question was about what the conditions are at the facility, and I think that he/she was just giving a description, not looking for pity.

I don't know about how true the punishment that was described in this thread is true. That is asking too much of someone, suppose you had to sneeze or blink an eye? That sounds like something made up to me. Even tho the detention center is to correct a mistake, it's not to abuse its power either. That sounds like torture camp to me!

If he was driving at the age of 12, his parents need to be charged with a crime as well for not taking care of their kids!

LOL could have happened who knows.
PPL do love to start rumors and tell tales.
Sherry has a good point thoough, and then again maybe the kid was telling horror stories. Kids are bad about telling stories especially when they are in trouble.

Excuse me but that is crap. Most parents try to raise their children to the best of their ability and still kids sometimes break your hearts. Kids will be kids and do stupid things just like you and I did. You cannot blame the parents nor should society crucify our kids. They are after all just kids!!!

Using the "just kids" excuse is a bunch of BS. What role models do our children have? They are the ones looking to us for answers not abuse. If this place was that way with children there would be an investigation....big time! Just gossip and from probably a spoilt kid who for once had to sit down and shut up!

HE was just speeding. The State Trooper said he was doing 90mph in a 35 but the cop was wrong. He said he met my son in a curve on plum springs road doing 90mph right before you turn on Detour Road. My son showed me where he met him at and you can not do 90mph there. I don't want anybody feeling sorry for my son. The judge Sam Potter knew he was not going that fast after my son told him where it was at. But he did give my son 40 hours of community service and probation for 1 year. I feel it saved my son's life. He did not think he was speeding but not 90mph. He was doing 45mph. This person asked how they are treated and I told them. It was just speeding. My son stopped and waited on the officer to get him he thought he would just get a ticket too, but he was arrested and they called me and told me they had aressted him for speeding and I said speeding and they told me he was doing 90mph in a 35. If you know were this curve is tell me do you think he could have done 90mhp. He was 16. He use to race gocarts so he could drive very well but he is not that good.

Why would this be illegal to tell what happens to a child in there. If all kids knew what they were facing by going there than they would not do anything to be placed there.

When he was placed there I asked when I could come and see him and they said he had to earn his visition. I said what do they mean earn and they said go by all the rules. He said the rules are posted all around the place and he had to read and remember them. Walk with thier hands behind their backs at all times, no talking unless spoken too, Yes sir/mam no sir/mam. When I went to pick him up when I signed his bond he had to stand at attention hands behind his back in the door way and no speaking until the guard let him walk out the door. He said thank you mam and she let him out. My son is a good child and he just used very poor judgement on his part. Yes this place is a very strick place for kids but they are trying to keep kids from coming back and going to jail. My Mom always said kids when they are little they step on your toes when they grow up they step on your heart. http://www.cmwjustice.com/projects/WarrenCoun... This is from the internet this is what the center looks like. Has your friends son got out yet? You can ask him what they were and you will know I was not lieing nor was my son lieing to me about it. I know a couple of more kids that has been there and they know what I was talking about. If I was asked by a judge why I told you this I would say your Honor I was telling the truth and maybe more kids needs to know so that they will not end up in there.

It will never happen Peanut will be sheriff until he retires or dies. He has a lot of friends out there. The sheriff can't stop how this is done.

There are a lot of hoops that you have to jump through before you can take a juvenile to the detention center unless there is a pickup order on them or something so I highly doubt that any child went to jail simply on a speeding charge. The officer has to go through the CDW who then has to go through the judge to even lodge a child in the detention center. Most charges they will just cite the child and release to the parent or guardian. I do have to say though, whatever they do in there, it appears to have an impact on even the most unruly kids. I have had several kids that I have worked with that were completely out of control in court and to other people, and after staying two weeks in the juvenile detention facility, they were a whole lot more respectful and willing to take responsibility for their actions.
