I don't quite understand their function or duties. Are they elected or appointed? I am referring to constables.

They lack adequate training, certification in most cases, and typically have low standards. I would not want them handling any law enforcement issue if I had to call for help.

I agree.. I also find it ironic that they will sit around and talk about other people and their mistakes ( Judge Huddlestons DUI) but dont bother to talk about their own mistakes, Last year one of the constables was arrested for DUI, Another constable getting hurt while serving, another serving alcohol to a minor ( not sure if he was ever charged)
I also find it hilarious when I was listening to a few constables sitting around and talking about some other people who are running for constable and sit there and say they dont need to run for the reason of them not having enough experience...

There needs to be a constitutional amendment (State of Kentucky)to be rid of this office. It is a remnant of times long passed when transportation to the county seat was not easy. Theese officers represented a good alternative by having regional "constables" to perform duties of the sheriff in his absence. Today this office should be obsolete and seems to only be used when someone wants to open some type of security business and have the force of the commonwealth behind them. The office of constable is a joke. In Warren County they are not even allowed by the fiscal court to have blue or red lights on there "police cars". I you will notice they're usually green lights. And yes Mr. Russell was charged by the BGPD for providing alcohol to minors.

Yes, Constables are elected and deputies are picked by the constable and then sworn in.

I am running in this election for Constable of District #1. I agree with some points all of you have brought up. But I want to correct the wrong statements that have been made. The Constable that was hurt in Franklin, was not acting as a Warren County Constable, in fact he is a special baliff in Simpson County also. And if the News and Simpson County Sheriff had done their job investigating this they would have had all facts instead of using it to lay BLAME on a Constable who has been in Law Enforcement for over 20yrs, and has all certifications from Kentucky State Department of Justice. I have know this man personally for over 15yrs and served under him for 4yrs. and KNOW FOR A FACT, the allegations that he pushed his way into their home is completely false. He is strictly by the book, believe me he chewed my butt out several times to make sure we were doing everything within the rules and laws of KRS Statues I can't defend the DUI, other then to say that person knew better. As for the Constable allegedly charged with " Serving alcohol to a minor", I have checked on this and can't find a record of it.

In response to you, for a fact Constables in Warren County do have permission to have Blue and Red lights from Judge Executive. Don't know where you got green light thing maybe from your dreams. Fiscal court only wants Constable that has sufficent training to use them. All agencies have some bad apples including BGPD, Sheriff's dept, and State Police. 80% of the current Constable belong to the Kentucky Constable Association and attend regular training in Louisville at UofL, put on by and taught by Kentucky Department of Justice. All of them must take and pass these courses to become Certified. As for your constables is a joke comment. Would like to educate you. Before there were any Law Enforcement Agency's in America, Constables served and protected the people of this country. They are and always will be the first Law Enforcemnt agency in America. The Constitution of the United States created them and they do not need to amend it. As I have stated there are bad apples in every agency do you get rid of all those because a few of them break the law.
Constables now serve papers for the court and different law firms, also transport patients to the State hospital. Freeing up the other agencies to repond to calls for assistance. If not that means raising taxes and hiring more police officers and deputies to complete these tasks. I do admit some of the Constables do work some private Venues, such as parties and security details to supplement their income. But to my knowledge none of them own a security company

Now on to Me, a subject I like more than anything.....lol.... I served as a Deputy Constable for 4yrs., Learned alot from the two retired BGPD officers And Current District 1 Constable was my supervisor (see previous post). Attented and Graduated Department of Corrections Academy. I hold the HIGHEST ACADEMIC AVERAGE certification (basically means out of the class of 250, I graduated as 1 in ranking. all tests scored 100%). I also served last 3yrs as an Extradition Agent, transporting prisoners all over America. I am Certificed in Firearms, ERD's (Electronic Restraint Devices), First Aid, CPR, Prisoner Transportation & Control, and Currently hold a Kentucky Concealed Carry Licence (Class taught by current Deputy Constable).

IF ELECTED I PLAN ON CONTINUEING MY TRAINING. Can never learn to much. Also plan on serving papers and transporting patients and prisoners as needed to State hospital. If anyone has a comment or would like to contact me i can be reached thru email at [email protected]

get ur facts straight yourself...the simpson co sheriff had NOTHING to investigate...it was city police....your welcome...so dont lay blame where it does not belong...and btw,,,serving papers on someone does not entitle anyone to enter a residence...ur lucky thats all that happened to your "constable".

I am was refering to the TV news report was the sheriff who made the comments. And the Facts are he didn't enter the residence. Are you going to believe a drunk, with a long list of arrest and know history of being in trouble over a Law Enforcement officer with 20yrs experience. I worked with the Constable they said did this and I KNOW FOR A FACT that this is against everything he believes in and trained us for. The last part of your statement sounds like a threat.

you dont know for a fact, because you werent there. you took to heart what he told you,is that not true.i know for a fact you cannot enter someones home, unless you are in what is called hot pursut or you have a warrant, and you must I.D. yourself.also if you have all the trainning that you say you do.why are you not a police officer yourself or are you just a want to be officer.

I didn't have to take what he told me to heart, I know what he instructed us to do and what he did over a 4 year period. His actions in all the time I have known him speak for themselves, STRICTLY BY THE BOOK. I am not an officer here because, everything is so political. I am breaking my own rule by running for Constable. But it is the only way I see to change things for the better, from the inside. Also I would not trade the experiences I have had transporting State and Federal prisoners around America. I have gotten to see almost all of this Great Country of ours. And met alot of great people who serve and protect the American people. I had a great partner and would not trade the experiences with her for anything. Not that I have to justifiy my actions to you. Your display name describes you best.....
