WNKY shows Divorce Court and King of the Hill when other CBS and NBC stations are showing news. That is so embarrassing for our Bowling Green market.

There is no news worth reporting in Bowling Green. King of The Hill is a little more informative of what is happening around here.

Why does WBKO have fewer anchors now than they did 15 years ago? They use Gene Birk and Sarah Goebel for all the evening shows and at one point they had 4 different anchors.

WBKO does suck a$$. I usually post comments on their website about various stories. I notice that my post don't seem to get approved until after the story has been moved off of the main headline part of the page. Sometimes I see other comments posted since mine get posted days before mine. Seems like the more opposing my comment is to their story, the longer it takes to get posted. Sounds like censorship or them trying to control the news.

You've got it champ, you hit the nail right on the head. WBKO never has and never will do any good investigative reporting. They su_k big time.

Laura is smart and pretty.i think she does well considering where she is working at. i hope Laura and Lacey move on to bigger and better things.

WBKO does fluff pieces. They have no concept of investigative reporting. nothing in depth on politics or policies gone bad.politicians and local leaders who do questionable things.W.K.U. gets a pass on all levels.

the latest is the Judge Huddleston DUI and the numerous complaints from those who went before her. the mayors pushing of personal views and her connections to certain organizations.am i to believe that Bowling Green has no dishonesty,corruption,shady dealings by the locals on any level ?

Bowling Green is a weak town when it comes to t.v news and newspaper coverage.

BGDN,WBKO,WNKY seems scared of upsetting the apple cart. afraid if they ruffle some feathers in order to share the truth with the public at large the powers that be will take away their birthday.

WBKO has the market cornered having control with ABC,FOX and the CW.

WNKY has the CBS,NBC market covered up and they don't even have a news broadcast.they don't even have a studio. it's a room in a warehouse not to forget the bad graphics,bad anchors and lack of programing.

i haven't had cable in a while but i wonder if because of WNKY folks can no longer get news sources out of Nashville and Louisville.

I bet Laura's gone soon after she gets married. Maybe a few months, maybe a year, but that's my prediction. Besides, they have that new girl Rachel Collier. I hear she's shadowing on AM this week for being on there next week. They're planting the seed for Laura's replacement, I think.

I think Rachael Collier is going to fill in for Lauren Hansen for about 3 months. Lauren is moving to nights while Sarah Giebel is off having a baby.

Rachael Collier is awful. I agree with a previous statement about how WBKO is lacking hotties like they had around 2004-2005.

Whatever happened to the gay guy that worked there around 1988-1990? He and Beth Tucker worked the 10 pm show.

So. Donna. Judging by your oh-so-intelligently articulated post, am I to believe this reporter is 'awful' because (in your humble opinion)... she's not a 'hottie'?
Donna. She's working as a reporter... not a model. Let's get our priorities straight, okay?
It never ceases to amaze me how shallow you people can be. You know these KIDS are your neighbors, right? You know these KIDS are about 22 years old, right? They're twenty years younger than most of you, yet... a shocking number of you continue to insult their looks and discuss their personal lives.
Don't give me that 'they're in the media, they've got that coming to them' explanation. Other cities don't obsess over their local TV personalities on this level. Don't argue. They DON'T.
Grow up. Shut up. Change the channel.

local news or national and cable t.v. sex sells.hot women and sexy men. that's the reality.looks and youth account for as much as talent.

@Donna
only the one gay guy ? could have fooled me.they have had more than one.they don't seem to last long.

small town,small news market is just the reality.WBKO is like W.K.U. when it comes to hiring coaches. take the low ball talent at the low ball price.

I don't watch WBKO news much. It's more out of disinterest instead of disdain. I do find the cult of local celebrity interesting. We imbue people who are on television with a sense of celebrity or authority--even people on commercials. Pit a lawyer who was graduated from Harvard against some lawyer, who may have barely passed the bar, but who is on television, and many people will choose the one on television for representation because of the limited celebrity status being on television affords.

I would find it disconcerting to be a local television personality. People would know me but I wouldn't know them. That could be scary. As far as this being a local phenomenon, it's not. Every city has its local celebrities with the same perks and disadvantages that the job offers. It's really stupid if you think about it. It would make about as much sense as for me to see my auto mechanic out in public and then become fascinated with how he dresses, whom he dates, or to want to get his autograph because he is an auto mechanic. The same goes for other media celebrities, actors, sports stars, musicians, etc. Perhaps it's this stupidity that makes people interesting. I don't know. I do think people should ease up on the local tv people. They are young, trying to get established in their careers, and probably are just trying to make a living like the rest of us. Public derision shouldn't come with the job.

Low ball talent? WBKO is not supposed to be CNN. I think they do fairly well for what they are. If you don't like them personally or professionally, then don't watch. I'm not an authority on gay guys, so I'll breeze past that comment.

This is the most intelligent, best articulated argument on this topic I've heard in... well... ever.

Right on, Dolly the Lama.

As for the 'sex sells' idea that Tompkinsville Talker threw out, I'm not convinced that's true. I can honestly say I don't tune into the news for the purpose of seeing someone sexy. I watch it for information... mainly the weather forecast. I expect the people on TV to look professional, but they don't have to be supermodels.

In fact, if looks held that much importance, wouldn't Katie Couric be anchoring the number one nightly newscast among the main networks? I don't mean that as a knock on her, but obviously, people gravitated toward 'experience'.

Another word on the whole 'sex sells' idea. The way this forum operates, if someone is deemed 'ugly', they're berated for it... and if they're deemed 'attractive', they're considered an idiot. No win situation.

Anyone else ever noticed it's almost always the young women at the local station this forum attacks? Both male and female posters are guilty of it. Why is that? Food for thought...

Probably because people have nothing better to do than verbally deep-six others who are in a position where they are seen locally on a daily basis. It is possible that some lash out at these people because they wish that it was, in fact, them who were in a similar position. Doesn't make it right to tarnish others.

great screen name. two thumbs up.the local lawyer commercials tell all you need to know.the "real" clients are missing teeth,they speak on about a 7th or 8th grade level,they look pretty ragged and it's all on purpose.the lawyers are selling to a specific group.personally i think it's sad and the lawyers should have way more class.The difference between the Harvard Lawyer and our local ones is that the Harvard lawyer isn't blanketing the t.v. and radio with hourly commercials.

@Mainstay
your right it's not supposed CNN or Fox but they never keep any of the good quality ones.it is obvious they value the bottom line than quality coverage.the lack of legit investigated reporter that lurks city hall looking to look out for the people is a negative on the stations to.
