I am actually a Directv Tech and know this is legit, I have installed Directv for poeple who work from home, They get free satellite. So of those of you who think it is fake... continue working where you are or collecting unemployment. Those os you who continue to check it out, Welcome aboard the new wave of Tv Directv.

I work for the same company. I have been working for this company for 3 yrs. Like any other customer service or technicial support job, whether in a call center or working at home, it can be stressful. However, if you know how to handle the stress it's not that bad. But you do need to be able to handle stress.In addition, the reason that you have weekly meetings with your supervisor is not only to monitor your development but also to express any concerns that you might have. To respond to Elaine's comment, they do monitor your phone calls, but they do also let you listen to a few during your meeting with your supervisor to help you with your development as a representative. I'm in the interview process here in St. Louis, MO for a WorkAtHome position. I have a laptop, but am told I can only do this job with laptop connected to ethernet cable...not wireless! Then took a typing test (4 or 5 long paragraphs...5 minute timed test)...then 41 question test (math & number sequencing)... then 51 question test (wanting to see how computer literate applicant is). Now have an interview scheduled 8/3/10 (suppose to plan 45 minutes and have a scanner connected so she can send me emails). Training is 4 weeks...she didn't tell me about the "nesting" week but that makes sense and also didn't tell me about "every click" monitoring. I already have two friends hired through Convergys but they are "on site" employees. I've been told training and job are stressful because they have high expectations...and attendance is 1st on their list. Not sure if I'm going to do this, but I'm going through the motions. Training starts 8/19th. Discipline is going to be my biggest problem! Ohhh... I believe you can go to Convergys' website and check out Work At Home jobs. I'm just doing part-time right now 20-28 hrs with part-time benefits (will be more expensive I'm told)...and was given the chance to work for Sprint 40 hrs F/T Work At Home....but felt I just wanted to see how this works. I'm really dreading it...but I also get DirectTV FREE....yet don't know if I have to sign a contract because there's a "satellite" involved. This is LEGIT job. I'm interviewing with a real person as a result of my applying online @ Convergys. Hope this helps anyone who might be wondering what it takes to interview for a position.

I currently work for Directv. I was hired through Convergys which is an international company that staffs call centers and tech support departments for various companies. the first time I worked for Convergys I worked at a call center where I handled benefits questions for Johnson & Johnson employees. Now I'm working from home as an ACE agaent (advancing the customer experience). I noticed that someone was complaining about the stress level of the job and the "big brother watching" issue. If you have ever worked in a call center boefore you know that your work is constantly monitored for quality purposes. Those weekly meetings (some people have them less often; they are based on performance) are to give you opportunitites to improve. In my area, I'm offered incentives for sales (adding premium services like HBO, Sunday ticket, etc.) and they aren't hard to get. Many customers will ask for the programming hen they call in. For those of you looking for legitimate work from home jobs go to the Convergys website and also visit www.ratracerebellion.com . I have worked from off and on for five years from the jobs I've found at that site. Good luck to you all; without work from home jobs many of us with disabled family members could not make ends meet. I'm glad to have stumbled upon the information I found!

I work for DTV through NEW as well (and have for just over 2 yrs now), and its not just tech support as so many others are "claiming". You do have to sell and have to push services on people even if the tell you they aren't interested. So if you are not able to sell things, or are not comfortable pushing a $200plus package at a customer who is telling you times are tough and they want to cut back on their bills, its not the place for you. I would not still be with this company if I hadn't been promoted, because I didn't apply to sell things people don't want and I certainly didn't appreciate being lied to about the job!

The people that are giving their private email addresses out want you to use them as a reference so they get paid for you getting hired. I personally would just go directly through the site that half a dozen people on here have linked to.

I use to work for directv (new) They suck...what they hire you on for, is NOT what you do! I worked for them for almost two years...The job description is bs...I will NOT work for them again! Good luck to the ones that are there. And the only perks of the job is...you work from home. The stress that comes with the job is bs...Oh I could go on and on! But, I wont! If you are searching for a work at home job! I would for sure try somewhere else before taking this job!

I work for NEW too. They have a site called newcorp.com . It is not a very secure job though. They will fire you without warning. If you skip a step in a script 3 times, you are fired. They will not give you any warning either. I have been there for 3 yrs, I see people get fired everyday. They want the turnover for some reason. It is very hard to get promoted too. They only promote blacks where I work. I am looking for another job now because I am buying a home and I need job security. Good luck with this company. Your job won't last long though.

I do the same thing and agree with you. It is very stressfull for the money they pay and it feels like they are constantly trying to find a way to fire you. If you master what they tell you to the next week they find something else. They are always changing their policies and what no one tells you is that although they monitor every single move the csr reps make and every word they say, they do not monitor or verify anthing out of the sales department. They lie and then let the csr's deal with the backlash. Their main focus for csrs is to to upsell, not to service the customers.
