It was extremely poor taste for the reporter at WBKO to imply the teen found in Green River committed suicide.. Does it really matter if he was recently put on anti-depressants? What a very cruel thing to do to a grieving family.

I also watched that as well...I thought the same it was rude and inconsiderate if I was the boys family I'd be hurt and truely offended

In the reach for ratings, the boy's privacy was violated. He deserves better.

It was actually the family that disclosed the fact that he was on meds. When you end up in the river, you tend to make the news... No good way to report a story like this.

The meds likely caused the suicide. WBKO did not report on the high increase in suicides once kids are put on antidepressants. That is newsworthy. All the kids that did the high school shootings were recently placed on meds.

The family probably misunderstood the reporter was not present because he cared.. He was there to get a "good story".

Who are you to say the meds likely caused the suicide? Are you trying to discourage the use of medication for treatment of depression? It is not newsworthy..It is an opinion from someone who obviously knows very little about the topic.

It's the reporters job to get a good story. I saw the story on WBKO and did not think they said anything wrong. I also know this family, and they are not upset about the reporting.

No sure. I can back that up with statistics. Prescription drugs is a major problem in this country. I would like to know what type of physician prescribed the antidepressants. Only a psychiatrist should be prescribing and they are over prescribing as well. I would venture to guess that it not a psychiatrist.
A pill does not solve the problem people.

We've all seen the anti-depression commercials that say that "these pills" may cause higher suicide rates in teens....

That's what I thought about when I heard the story.

WBKO also did not report that kids are put on those drugs because they have mental health problems.

But blame the meds.

If the parents didn't want anyone to know about him being on anti deppresents, they certainly wouldn't have told wbko. And I'm sure if he was on them, that would mean he has some sort of depresion. Which to me indicates they he might have commited suicide. His family did hear him leave the house around 2 am without taking his phone or wallet or any other belongings he would normally take. And if he was planning on suicide he wouldn't have took his wallet or keys. And he left by himself at 2 am. Why else would a depressed teen leave at 2 am all by himself with no wallet or keys?

I know the kids family and many believe he was murdered because the people he worked with at the Glasgow Applebee's had some nasty records.
