Apparently you are either too picky or may not qualify for much since there are several jobs listed in the paper.

JObs listed in the paper mean nothing. Many places must advertise but will hire who they had in mind in the first place. The ad covers them when someone complains, saying we went the process...

Almost impossible to get a job above min wage im BG unless you know/blow someone.

Or could there be a slight problem with your work history like being fired for various reasons,a gap in your employment,or something that shows up on your background check? In the past, you could leave out things of your past but today companies use commercial background checks and they do report everything from your past.

It is hard to find applicants with good backgrounds and work history. Many love to whine.

You're so right. The good workers with a clean background have jobs already.

If you can't find a job, you are either uneducated, have a criminal history, a terrible work history, or a combination of the three. There are TONS of jobs all over the place, but people don't actually WANT to work. You want to be employed, sit around and do as little as possible all day and draw a paycheck. 40 hours a week is just too much for Americans these days...pathetic. People won't put the effort in, then sit around and complain about injustices. Successful people work 60+ hours a week and EARN their success, they don't sit on websites complaining about things. There are plenty of jobs out there, but nowhere enough good people to fill them.

If the $9.00 an hour minimum wage goes over nationwide, kiss summer jobs goodbye, and count on a minimum two year degree to flip burgers at McDonalds. If you have to pay employees that much for entry level jobs, the minimum standard of employees may as well be raised too!

But the Government and the President can just subsidize companies to hire these leeches. If you hire them at 9.00, we will pay 3 of the 9 dollars...and that will stimulate the economy (Socialist Collectivist sleazebag word), problem solved.*

You know... you could try changing your attitude. People are very predisposed to prejudice, and prefer people that have boundless confidence. Works for me all the time, whether I'm looking for work, or picking up the ladies.

Not true and not fair. I have a college degree, 30 years on the job with NO unplanned absences and no criminal background. Not even a speeding ticket. When my company went out of business, I started sending out resumes and filling out applications. Anyone here care to guess why I can't get hired? Yes, illegal as it may be, it's my age. When they see 30 years on the same job, they go no further. So, if you would be so kind as to post even a partial listing of these TONS of jobs, I would greatly appreciate it.

Look at it this way: You have 30 good years at your OLD job and you were a model employee doing what that company did. When your world gets turned upside down by a plant shutdown, you go back on the market as someone who has to be trained to do what the NEW company does. Doesn't seem fair but you have to get your foot in the door and not demand what you left. Once in ,even on the bottom rung of the ladder, you show the powers that be what you're capable of and not mutter word of anger at the OLD company that "done you wrong" and you can work your way back to where you were. Good Luck!
