Let me begin by thanking those of you in topix who have defended me, my family and those I currently work with or have worked with in my 21 years at WBKO. I appreciate it and my family and co-workers appreciate it.

For the rest of you who seem to have nothing better to do with your time than to create falsehoods to make yourself look better, I pray for you.

Some of you have said some rotten things about me. That's fine. Have at it. It hits the wall and doesn't stick. That goes with my job. You don't have to watch me if I disgust you that much. There are plenty of other stations to watch. Just know I love what I do and apparently most people - not all - sense that and enjoy watching our station. If not, you have the power to vote with your remote to put us out of business and kick me off the air. It's that simple.

But when you spout lies and inuendo about my family, co-workers and the people I worship with, that's where I draw the line.

So from here forward, as much as it digusts me to do so, I will be checking in the topix discussion boards to set the record straight.

For those who feel that these kind of discussions have gone on long enough, I hope you will join with me in helping me put a stop to the character assination that occurs on this board...not only as it applies to me but to anyone else in here who feels they have been discriminated against because of their color, sex, religion or otherwise.

I thank you all for your understanding and if you'd like to discuss this with me further - and to prove its really me - feel free to email me at [email protected] or you can message me on my facebook page www.facebook.com/chrisallen.wbko and twitter.com/ChrisAllen_WBKO

God bless,
Chris

i am sure glad you seen what the stupid people has been saying. but look at it this way they don't have no life and nothing better to do. i don't even guess they have a wonderful family like you cause if they did they would not be on here saying the things that they are saying they would have better things to do. my family loves to watch you on tv and when there is bad weather you are there no matter how long it takes. i know you have been there days and nights i am sure glad you care for people like me and my family to take your time and stay up all night to get the weather out to us. my THANKS goes out to YOU and your FAMILY.

Hate to say it Chris, your a celeb for these folks. Some are going to say the best things about you, some are going to say the worst. Probably alot of lies. With the internet, where every no life can have their say and hide behind a keyboard, you will be highly outnumbered. I would suggest not letting them know you are aware of it. It will give them joy thinking they are getting under your skin. Let your actions be the true measure of the life you live. Ive actually worked with you a couple of times in the past and you were a decent average guy. I could read a million posts about ya on here saying your the AntiChrist, I'm still going to judge you by the person Ive seen ya be. Don't lower yourself to this rabble. Life is too short to deal with jackasses.

I've been blasted a time or two on Topix as well. The best thing to do is ignore all of it. The Topix forums are nothing other than loosers writing on dirty virtual bathroom walls. Anyone with any brains and class would realize whatever is written in here to be taken with a grain of salt. The entire Topix site is trash and I wish it were shut down. These forums do not serve any kind of purpose or benefit to society other than to berate and hurt mostly innocent people. I'm also a believer of free speech, but there should be some kind of law against anonymous websites like Topix. Chris, I'm sorry people have nothing better to do than post false junk about you on here. Go on living your life and let these people sulk in creating negativity and bitterness...

if your checking on Topix and keeping score then the posters win. They are getting in your head and playing games with your soul. Be a good man and dont fight this fight. Peace

Do you honestly think someone would do that on air? Please. What a boring life you must lead if you don't joke around with your friends and co-workers. This was leaked by a disgruntled employee at WBKO. While I am not a fan of the station, I think Chris' apologizing for this was not necessary. The person who tried to make Chris look bad should be apologizing.

There was a thread about Gene Birk in the Glasgow forum when they were down there a few weeks back for the United Way and said that he was married to a lady named Betty Denton and left her for his dance partner??

I knew a Betty Denton that was a hairdresser, Is that the same one?

Yes you did apologize for your mistake and as embarrassing as it was for you I am sure it will be in your mind always and there will be those who will not let it rest. The thing that really bothers me about 'some' people is they think they have never done anything wrong. Who hasn't done some dumb thing that they wish they hadn't have? I sure have done several things that I regret, not because I was caught but because I knew it was tasteless and wrong.

The thing that bothered me most about this whole ordeal was that the person who taped this and put it on the internet hasn't been identified nor do we know if 'they' have apologized to you. This effected how everyone viewed the whole group at WBKO. Bowling Green is a great place to live, work and worship. I think we all should learn from this and stop pointing fingers. Don't stir this any more than it already has been, don't allow people to put a brand on you. My best advice,(which you didn't ask for) is to consider that this forum is full of people who have nothing more to do than bash someone, makes them feel better about their own wrong decisions. Ignore those who feel they are superior to others. Your someone that works at the local station as a weather person, You have given us all good information and I (personally) will look for the good in people rather than the bad. I am sure your good, out weighs your bad.

I don't know Gene but always thought that he stayed single after losing his first wife to cancer for several years. WBKO did a dancing program which all the WBKO took place in the contest. Gene and his dance pardner seemed to hit it off really well which they married and now have a sweet little girl. I am happy for Gene because I have heard that he really spent many years grieving over his first wifes death. I am glad he is happy with a new family and has found someone he can love again. Time is short, we need to find happyness as much as possible, I say good luck to him and all those who call him family.

From what I know - Gene Birk's first wife passed away at a very young age around 1992-1993 from cancer. This was when Gene Birk did the sports. Gene left WBKO for a couple years to work for the Cancer Society following the passing of his wife. They had no children. Gene returned around 1994 this time as the head news anchor where he has been ever since.

I remember seeing Gene Birk out and about several times with an older woman whom I believe was the Denton woman. She is from Glasgow and a top hairstylist. They went together for 10 years or so, but I believe they never married. I do know that they were together right before he hooked up with the Dance teacher Elizabeth. I saw them out at a function right before that dancing event took place, because I was shocked when they said Gene married another woman. I also remember seeing them together at the Glasgow Highland Games years back sponsoring some event. As for the details of there breakup, who knows, but I dare say some feelings got hurt and it probably wasn't Gene's either.
