My sons sees Dr.Kevin Kelly. He is great.Very good with my son. Not a big med pusher for something as simple as a sneeze. Which I like. Nice office staff as well. Hope this helps. You should be able to find his number in the phone book.

Thanks for that, I called his office but they are not taking new patients. Does anyone know of any more?

My son is 2 and he just started seeing Dr. Voakes on Chestnut st. I really like it there. The facility is a bit dated and it lookes as if it used to be a large older house. But its clean and it seems like a great place so far. Plus Dr. Voakes lets you call his own personal phone line anytime of the day or night with answers to any problem you have. he is kinda old fashioned but it doesn't really matter as long as my son is getting the best care. Hope this helps.

Good luck! None of the doctors will take a new medical card patient except Dr. Voakes or Dr. Watson. I have tried to help my sister numerous times to change doctors, but nearly impossible. If the child is a newborn, you have a better chance choosing a good doctor. Just from what I have heard, I would hate to have to bring my child to either one. The offices are old and tiny and the care leaves alot to be desired.

Does anyone know if Dr. John Tapp is good? Also an optomitrist and a dentist that you can recommend for children that takes a medical card? I really appreciate any help.

Dr. Bitterling. He is cautious...doesn't give your kid an antibiotic unless he/she needs it, diagnosed my niece as asthmatic after 4 other Peds claimed she didn't have it (my mom is also asthmatic...we knew she had it)

As for the dentist...Drs. Elliot, they are the only pediatric dentists that take med card in BG.

why not get insurance and stop using the medical card?? That would ease the burden on the government and taxpa yers like me.

Whoo hoo!! I second this comment :)

If used how it was meant to, it helps. 99 of of 100 times it is abused, and used very unnecessarily. Im sure everyone reading this that has one or knows someone that has one, only uses it for the right reason, and the parents are employed too, right? lol

You are totally ignorant! There are far too many checks and balances for medical coverage in the USA. It is almost impossible for it to be abused because the Dr. is the one that gives the prescriptions and orders the tests etc.
Not to mention that you recieve substandard care.
To those of you that are so high and mighty, I pray that it all comes back on you and perhaps someday you will have to make choices that you don't want to make and do the things that you don't want to do for the sake of your child. Karma is a B*tch and I hope that it comes back on you. Have a great day!

are you nuts? checks and balances???? It is so abused it is pathetic. There are NO checks and balances (see our economy situation at this time - do you watch the news or read the papers?).

Dr. Watson and Dr. Voakes are quacks. I just got both of my children switched from them and I thank God everyday. My son has breathing problems and neither one of them seemed to wanna help his breathing. It's sad to say but unless you know someone who goes to like Graves Gilbert Pediatricians and can talk to their doctor your up a creek. Dentist a good one is Dr. Howell on the by pass and for your eyes you can go anywhere with a medical card

Yes I do, it's called the WAR in IRAQ! We are trillions of dollars in debt thanks to who you voted for! We as a country help everyone and their children while ours silently suffer and do without. Ignorance is bliss my friend. YOU ought to open up a paper sometime and turn on the news.

Thank you for all of your help. And to those that like to judge, I hope that you never need a medical card for your child. I, unlike you are, less fortunate. Hopefully, you won't lose your job, your ex will not stop paying his child support. May God bless you either way.

No need to use bad language.
You obviously haven't worked anywhere that will accept the medical card. It's amazing how many people abuse it. The emergency rooms especially. The emergency rooms are for emergencies, not sore throats, crying and the ever popular 'back pain'. That's why the Er's have longer wait times than they should. If I can remember your name and your families name from seeing you there, you come too much!! Noone has that many "emergencies". Go to sleep, and call your PCP in the morning. Not to mention that people with medicaid are usually the most ungreatful human beings I have ever met(prove me wrong if that's not you). Pathetic. Not high and mighty, I was just taught to work and not live off the government. Also, not to have (keep having) children if I don't have the means to support them. Just common sense.
Oh, and medicaid has a list of phyicians and clinics that accept the medical card. If they are children, they will be assigned to a particular physician to see.

There is always places to get a job where ever you live. It's all about the choices you make in life. If you've made bad choices, there's always a chance to make better choices. You have to want to make them first, that's the key.

Thank you for your wisdom, but I haven't made any bad choices and I sure as hell didn't "choose" to get laid off from my job. And by the way, I have applications put in all over this damn town. Meanwhile, my child is sick and needs to see a doctor. I'm not on welare or foodstamps,I don't have a medical card, and I won't ever have one, but I'll be damned if my child will have to do without. I have worked for the last 15 years without a "lapse in employment" and I've paid my taxes so that others that abuse the system can have a free ride. So NO!, I am not ashamed, I've paid my dues and my child deserves the same care that anyone els's does.
