They deal with adults who have mental retardation along with other health issues. These adults live in homes with around the clock caretakers and they take them to doctors appointments or anywhere else they need to go.

I have known many people who have worked in the homes throughout the years. And they have said nothing but compliments and praises to me about it. And the pay isn't that bad too.

Caky is awful! Its so sad how they treat the people there. They are often abused. The company is so corrupt. If u are reading this please don't place family members there. There are so many places that actually care about the people. Caky is not one of them. The state has been called on them numerous times.

If anyone wants to work for any agency choose one other than the "older" ones. Do business or work for the new companies....they are less corrupt. As far as C.A.K.Y., they are the lesser of the two evils.....at least they are trying. It takes time to make systems changes.

Look for a company called Evergreen if you want to work with people...Too many people at CAKY trying to sleep with each other instead of taking care of the clients...

I will say one thing about Caky. Caky is a place where no one should work. They need to be shut down. They really have nothing good to say about their employers. All the main people do is set on their asses behind desk and thing they know it all. If a allegation was to come up you will be more than likely to get fired. Because they see that if an individual says this happens than it happens. This company is a waste of space. They need new bosses for this places. The one in bg. All they care about is talking about you behind your back and firing the ones who really care about the clients. There are many sweet individuals in that place but as far as staff they need new ones who want to be there and who actually care about the individuals instead of the money.

Community Alternatives (CAKY) is under new management. I heard they are tearing down the old institution and that everybody that used to live there now live out in the community. They are hiring and say they are changing for the better. I heard the last director there did a better job than some in the past, and they were certified for the maximum amount of time allowed for two years in a row. Much better than before. I know some people who work with the individuals there, and they seem to really care and do a good job. There is a rotten egg at every place sometimes, but if they do a good job weeding those people out, they could help people have a better life than they did at the institution. I know they don't pay alot, but it is great experience for a college kid, especailly in psychology, social work, sociology or human services, and counts toward your experience for when you get your degree. Some of the jobs make you have experience and a degree, and it helps you have a job waiting if you want to do something like that for a living. I know my friend worked from 2 p.m friday and got off on sunday at 8, and got all 40 of her hours in in a weekend, then everything else she picked up was overtime! Some of the houses you can sleep there and it's okay, if the people who live there don't need you at night. Then you get paid to sleep, make sure people don't need you at night, and help them get up the next morning and get ready for wherever they go, and go home. I know they were real flexable with people's schedules and paid while they were being trained.

Change is commendable, however, there is no room for err when caring for the disabled. They deserve so much better. They deserve the best, because they go through the worst. They get bullied, abused, ostrised, and its a crying shame. Caky used to hire anyone off the street, whether the have love and compassion for the disabled or not. These are human beings, and it shouldn't take a decade to get your shit together when caring for such a vulnerable group of people. Zero tolerance needs to be the policy, not they are trying to get it right, it should be right from the onset.
