Has anyone worked at Dell, formerly Perot systems? They have a technical support position listed online but I am wondering if it is a decent place to work.

I worked there for 2 years & loved it. The only reason I left was because I moved. Some people will say they like it & others will say how bad it is. It's a very laid back company. They have great benefits. Good luck!!!

its easy enough, and it pays better than minimum wage. Its frustrtaing because it seems like there should be a lot of opportunity there, but from what I can tell, they don't seem to care much about you. You won't get fired for stupid things, but you won't get a promotion for doing well either. Oh, and don't expect to stop being a contractor for at least 16-20 months. Contractors have worthless benefits.

I worked there for three years. I would probably still be there except my mother became ill and I had to quit to take care of her. It is a good place to work and has great benefits. Of course, like any call center, there is a lot of ' drama'. But as long as you are mature and professional and stay away from the gossip, it can be a good place to work.

I am not sure you will want to go to this company, they have no respect for their employee's and moving up in this company will never happen. They will lie to get what they want and then let you go. It's a crazy place to work.

Don't do it this place has no care for their employees and they work you to death 24/7 if they could. Go somewhere else you will be sorry if you dont

what are their background checks like? what disqualifies a person from a job, misdemeanors? felonies? time period? I am writing a paper on the local economy for my human resource class and I have some information from other companies but having trouble finding it for this one.

they have a very through back ground check. It is my understanding that any offense other than a traffic ticket will stop you from getting hired. Much more through than when it was perot systems. Over all I enjoy working there and they do have great benefits. Good luck on that paper.

I had a DUI and I worked there. and their technical support is VERY technical. you can't jus come off the street for that position. you have to be able to diagnose and fix 75% of ALL calls on the FIRST call or you will not get a raise. they really kinda sucked.

I have done some research on it, and I know that according to one source I found on the internet, they were listed as one company that would overlook certain convictions. Would there be any way for me to find out for sure. Say if someone had 2 Misdemeanor convictions in the past 20 years, none violent, and the last over 4-5 years ago. I am needing specifics or I can not include them in my paper. Would you know who I would talk to?

did you not read what i wrote? I had a DUI + AI + disorderly conduct(for a party I threw) but they may have overlooked it because of my extensive experience. I started out at 14.60, pretty sure the highest there

Did you work on contract at first or get hired on immediately? Why'd you quit??

contract, they used me for 6 months with no health insurance, and when it came time to extend the contract/get benefits/raise they didnt renew. guess they thought itd be cheaper to find someone else to work there for 9$ an hour like everyone else. as$$oles.
