Last week I took my kids skating for the first time!! Doesn't look like many people go out there! My kids don't even know how to skate and they had a blast I have a 2 year old and a 6 year old. and its dirt cheap!

That's a great idea but I was thinking more about clubs, I am trying to get him focused on some of his interests. For example Ellis county has a jr . sheriffs program. There is 4H (I am sure it is out here)but I need to look into that more before I commit boy scouts encourage a lot of family participation which is great but hard to do because I have 2 jobs. There is Karate but if the instructor is who I think it is I would rather not. Didn't care much for his bed side manner. Thanks for any and all input.

There are art lessons (across from the post office), Friday night is traditional music at the senor center/silver strings has family friendly dances I believe Mondays/Fridays I think/ all the churches have kids classes are really open to having programs in the churches (start what you want) there are numerous musicians who teach various instruments here, fly without wings was doing riding lessons (especially for kids that are at risk or having difficulties) the skating rink, occasional programs at the community center/there are always groups that need volunteers (clean up for mainstreet, animal groups, skate park, walking trails, track, there's the gyms in town, karate lessons at lighthouse (with a few different instructors) and the guy who was doing them in the old glass/tile place (who's great), dance lessons, gymnastics (maybe in Nocona), boy scouts, ffa, 4h, the car club...some cost a little, but most folks are willing to work with others who are also. The moms here in town should network more - have a meetup online or at the library to connect - share coupons, good program and groups, hand-me-down clothes, toys, books, meet other moms and possibly trade some sitting time with one another etc.

We quit the skating rink because of all the kids whose parent's were not willing to keep an eye on them - they just drop them off and leave like the poor rink owners were babysitters.

the skating rink is an awesome place to take your children...they also have a excellent hockey program and as far as people dropping their kids off,Sally and Frank make sure the kids all behave they don't put up with any riffraff.
