Hey I need to start tanning and was wondering how many tanning salons there are and their prices. No need for rude comments about places just wanting some places and prices. Thanks!

I've been wandering where the best place is to get a spray tan? I used to go to firehouse and use the spray tan machine they had, I'm so sad they didn't keep it!

Does Shandi Medford mean nothing to you people? Tanning kills...and yes tanning beds too new research shows people who use tanning beds have a 59% more chance of getting melanoma than those who don't tan. There is no amount of beauty that is worth going through melanoma and leaving your family and friends in so much pain. White is totally the new tan!

Using Shandi is sure noble. Did her cancer come from tanning? 41% chance of not getting melanoma. Find another angle. Leave Shandi in peace where she is now resting..

Actually tanning beds raise your chances of melanoma 75%. Any percentage is not worth it. I should know, I've been battling stage 3 since 2009. I can remember laying in the beds and it crossing my mind but thinking oh it will never happen to me. But it did, and it got into the lymph nodes of my neck. Surgeon at MD Anderson removed 35 of them and I had to have a YEAR of chemo. There is NO cure for Melanoma! I return to MD Anderson every 6 months for scans, MRI, blood tests and X-rays to make sure the sneaky beast isn't back, and I can't begin to explain what it feels like to know it will one day return and possibly kill me also. I lost 2 friends to it last year. I personally promise you it's not worth it and no one is immune. It breaks my heart how some just don't get it til they get it.

Thank You Tammy for trying to educate people on this topic of melanoma. Some People just don't get it. Yes Shandi's cancer was caused from a tanning bed.PLEASE!!!! PLEASE !!!!! I beg you not to use a Tanning Bed.Just like Tammy said There is NO CURE... Get on the Melanoma web site and see how many Young women die everyday with this horable Beast!!!!!! They leave behind young children,Husband.and Parents, plus friends who love and miss them so dearly. You can also pass this down to your unborn child and the child dies at a very young age. I wish they would ban the tanning beds,it's to late to save my baby Girl but maybe this will save someone's loved one.

TED, All those things above may cause cancer of some sort, and for you to know I also had breast cancer 4 years ago, mine WAS NOT MELANOMA!!!! Mine was treatable with a high rate. As we have said NO CURE FOR MELANOMA!!!!! The very first visit we went to with Shandi we were told all they could do was treat it and try to stop it from getting to other organs.7 months later she was gone. She ate as healthy as anyone, she never smoked, She never drinked, she never abused her body. Although she did TAN In Tanning beds . NO One is 100 percent sure these beds caused her MELANOMA, but as we know of the outbreak of this Beast all are 40 and under. More 35 and under. Which are the ones who used the tanning beds at a high percent. If this message will save ONE LIFE it will be worth it!!!!! SO Please !!!!! Please!!!! Stay out of Tanning Beds!!!! Don't chance it!!!! IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!!!! Ted just in case you Don't Know who I am .I am Shandi's Mother, also the Grandmother of those precious little girls she left behind. Just Keep in Mind this a MEAN Beast !!!! And it can't be controlled.... HE Will WIN at some point!!!!! So if we can prevent Melanoma by not using Tanning Bed then why don't we spread the message to save a young beautiful life..

So glad you responded Sherry. I've been wanting to but couldn't find the words, well the right, courteous words anyway. It has bugged me for days, I felt it was just a crude response to something that's so personal for some of us! You would think by now in trying to raise awareness I'd be used to the eye rolling, out of touch responses. But onward we go, cause every once in awhile we reach someone!!:) High five Mama Bear!!

The International Agency for Research on Cancer, an affiliate of the World Health Organization, includes ultraviolet (UV) tanning devices in its Group 1, a list of the most dangerous cancer-causing substances. Group 1 also includes agents such as plutonium, cigarettes, and solar UV radiation.

Come on people! There are TONS of things that cause cancer agreed! We always imagine that it just won't happen to us but after watching an amazing woman die and watching the terror it out her family through, I can't imagine willingly going into a tanning salon knowing that could even possibly be the outcome all so I can look hot? With the knowledge we have today I don't understand how people can be so shallow! Why is having dark skin even worth the risk? People are so stupid that is all I can say!
