The evidence is apparent that the Bowdoinham woods have been safer since his arrest in 1988; and the world is now a little safer without him free to roam in it. Throughout this entire legal process, Dechaine has gotten everything he was entitled to. It’s past the time for him and his followers to accept that the verdict and the sentence are just what he deserved.
Dennis Dechaine was not the victim here. Sarah Cherry was. Her family and friends continue to be victimized by Dechaine and his supporters. At least we do not require that he know firsthand the fear and suffering that his young victim knew in the final moments of her innocent life. That would be true justice. |
