What a joke. The same Hollywood officals who have destroyed the downtown, and are now trying to ruin the beachfront, are going to save the city, by buying up foreclosed houses?

Hey J. Smith! What about the foreclosed homes in Hollywood Hills, the Lake section, and Oakwood? Do you and C. Benson have blinders on or is there more behind it? Foreclosures are not only in blighted areas......everyone is being hurt not just your hand picked groups of people.

Obama socialism at it's best....forget capitalism...Let's have a bigger government more involved, hope they use my tax dollars to pay the "just value" on the property appraisers website for these properties so we can keep the over inflated values for a few more years....

That 250,000 thousand number has to be wrong to help homeowners buy homes. The City is getting 7.5 million dollars and only passing out 3.5 percent to help people buy homes? Why not use more then 3-4 million dollars of that money in downpayment assistance for families to qualify for mortgages to purchase said forclosures. That money can be leveraged up and Hollywood can help families purchase over 15 million in forclosures. The money will probably end up with so called developers and Koslows friends.

START WITH FEDERAL HIGHWAY, ALL THE MOTELS ARE BLIGHT, you don't need a bus tour and printouts to figure this one out people; what is the problem? Who is paying to keep these blighted places open? Why is EVERYONE pretending not to know and see what is happening here?

So the cycle will begin anew. Buy and fix up homes with government money. Then let folks with low incomes buy the homes with a city/government backed loan, complete with down payment and closing cost assistance. When they default, city officials will be scratching their heads and saying what happened?

I agree the City leaders have to be ashamed of themselves. After all they squandered 30 million plus downtown plus 10 of millions more in tax free giveways to be driving around the streets a stones throw from downtown looking at what has always been a delipadated neighborhood. In the early 90's Delray bought up tons of homes and made Pineapple villiage a success. Those homes in that Hollywood neighborhhood are worth between 50-75K like they were in the year 1997-2000 not a penny more. Im sure Hollywood will overpay. The point is code enforcement had there hands in this mess and so did the city for not providing basic services like street lights and signage improvements to that area and police crackdown on drug dealers ...

more BS! Stuff your pockets with the money, why not? You all did when y ou were commisioners, why is this any different. Go gamble. 7.5 million, what a joke. Give me a break! HWD spends that in 10 minutes. No way to earn a living in S. FLorida except for drugs and HWD city Commosion. Another terrible story. Who pays for you to ride around like kings? How is is that you are qualified to make the decision on behalf of thousands of other residants? How, I'll tell you how, you will act on behalf of all your friends in Emerald Hills like troll guilinati

They drive the value of our homes down, use our own money to buy them back at half the cost, then sell them back to us. Win....win. ENOUGH ALREADY!
