Memo to Det. George (parents probably wanted to name you Jorge) Suarez. What if the victims were of Hispanic origin? Same call? No evidence of a "hate crime?"

It was no hate crime, it was a symbol of happyness, as throwing white powder means marriage, thier was no other powder, so red retardant was used to symbolize love for one another.

You really need to keep taking your medication on a regular basis.

Kelly shame on you , you insulting my bro. What's the matter with you. You need to study Indian Cultures, in order to understand the color code of powders that are used for right of passage.

Obviously, you're ignorant of the white culture. There is a practice that is time honored amongst white teens in Long Beach. It is a ritual known as "geefing."
When you go out geefing, you get a fire extinguisher, fill it with water, pressurize it, get in your vehicle, and hose anybody along the street.
These teens were either too stupid, or lazy, to fill the extinguisher with water, and went with the powder.
I've been hosed numerous times in belmont shore area. Once right through my car window. It's just what kids like to do.

An idiotic post. How in the world would you have any way of knowing what his folks wanted to name him? Dumbest thing I've heard today.

And read the Penal Code section on so-called 'hate crimes' before flapping your gums. Ethnicity is not the determining element of the crime. With regard to this incident, a hate crime can't be proven unless there are extenuating circumstances other than what is printed in the article.

Although I feel bad for the guys that got sprayed, I still had to laugh out loud when I read this.

What the clowns did is a common kids prank that has been going on for as long as I can remember. There is typically nothing at all racial about it. Just some dumb guys out for a laugh.

It was not "red" retardant retard ! Read the story carefully B4 U put a comment like that. Yes it came from a painted "red" fire extenguisher, but the powder inside is white...and it was a hate crime, if not a silly/stupid crime like the perpetrators themselves, a bunch a white trash cowards.

NEWS FLASH:

Police investigators are spending numerous man-hours working feverishly to elevate this childish prank to "hate crime" status. Other less important investigations (murders, rapes, gangs) have been put on hold until the culprits are apprehended.

Rep. Jenny Orepeza has introduced emergency legislation requiring all dealers of fire extinguishers to require the identification and fingerprinting of customers purchasing fire extinguishers.

Furthermore, PETA is seeking a court injunction against the nefarious individuals who throw eggs at innocent victims' homes, citing the fact that this "hate crime" is costing the lives of thousands of unborn chickens every year.

Stay tuned...

Holi, Festival of Colors

Holi, also called the Festival of Colors, is a popular Hindu spring festival. Holi is celebrated by people throwing colored powder and colored water at each other. Holi usually falls in the later part of February or March. In 2009, Holi (Dhulandi) is on 11th March.

This is like a Holi prank gone horribly wrong. Also, the perps are about four months too late. Also, the punks who did it apparently are not Indian. Plus, you're supposed to use colored powder, not a caustic fire retardant.

I guess these Indian activists are kind of like the Indian versions of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, making everything a HATE crime.
I think it appears to be an anti-smoking crime, the victims just happened to be outside an Indian resturant!
Everyone hates the smoke gauntlet outside eating establishments.
