The rate hike is absurd as it will only cull the people who can't afford the new toll which is tantamount to extortion. So now we have roads for the wealthy and roads for the poor. It is obvious that the "Toll Road" experiment didn't work. We need new freeways to accomodate the growth in housing in the Inland Empire. All the good jobs are in the OC and there are only two ways in from here. Ortega Highway and the 91 freeway.

I never use the damn thing myself but have been a passenger when friends use it. NO ONE is ever on it it seems. No wonder they have to hike up the rates. Shoot, they should just lower the toll and more people would use it. What a waste of space.

Maybe they should have bus lanes that go from O.C. to the Inland Empire. That would cut down on the grid lock. Scrap the toll road lanes.

when they build the toll road on the 91 the state ie Caltrans agreeed not to build or make the existing 91 freeway wider to accomodate more free traffic. There is another route to take and its free, take the service road along the 91 freeway hardly anyone uses it.

Service road, That through to Coal?

I do not use the toll lanes either, My son is severely disabled and it is my understanding that if you have a lic plate for disabled that there is no charge for it. I won't go there!! Years ago when I did use it one time the senser was not picked up and I received I can't tell you how many letters with penaltys adding up to almost $400.00 along with the threat that they would block me was renewing my car registration. I sent numerous responses stating that I did have the senser but the letters kept coming. A year went by and I'm thinking ha they finally get it and then I get another. Geeze!!!!! Its quite the joke. The buses from Inland to Orange does sound like a good idea, Many are for car pooling so why not and it would be cheaper too. Geeze when I take the Metro Link Train I only pay $10.25 for a round trip from Corona to Orange and that includes the bus fair that I take to the area where all of my sons Drs are. The Metro Link is awesome so long as one can have their schedule coordinate with the train schedule. It definitely relieves the stress of dealing with stop and go traffic on the 91. So much nicer to be passing up all of those tail lights knowing that you will be back in Corona in a matter of 20 minutes.:-)

Its all about revenue for them, Do they really give a dam about the gridlock, Naw!!!! I personally think that the developers that keep adding to the Corona population creating more gridlock should be forced to pay out some $'s for the toll road since its them that are bringing on more traffic.

Let me correct the Metro Link cost.... Its $10.25 round trip when I travel alone and $5.25 round trip when my son is with me in his wheelchair. They do not charge for me when he accompanies me.

After working in the OC for years, my husband is now working in Corona! In fact one of the reasons he works here is ...he doesn't have to get on the 91...snake...The answer to the problem is to take jobs out of the OC and bring them here! And...stop the building!!! Bring industry here instead!!! PEOPLE...ITS SIMPLE THE MORE $$$ THEY HAVE THE MORE THEY WANT...HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD TRY TO JUST STAY OFF OF THE 91 FAST TRACK...HOW MUCH PAIN WOULD IT CAUSE THEM IF PEOPLE STOPPED USING IT? ITS TIME FOR A SOCIAL EXPERIMENT..

I have friends that drive to the train station and ride...then have a car on the other side that they drive to work...

It might be cheaper if...the employers would take up the slack.

We would all like it if the larger (employers) would be required to provide transportation from the train station back to work ...and then return thier people back to the train station for the ride home...Another Experiment!

Of corse this would mean that the employers would have to stick to a set sch. for the work day...not a bad idea...thats the way it used to be!...we had more time at home less time working too hard.

well I drive into El Segundo on my commute and used to use the Fast Track every day, plus if my boyfriend used my car, he used it for the 241 to Irvine. I was paying as much as $200 a month in tolls.

I decided to avoid it as much as possible, so now I leave earlier in the morning, and work later... plus sometimes I take the 60 home..

I hate the commute

My son was here from Arizona...took his son to the beach...accidently got into that lane and could not get out...got a ticket...can you guess how much it was????$750.00 FRICKEN DOLLARS IS HOW MUCH!!! Who do I complain to about the evil of that?

actually the signs are pretty clear and the lanes that do not take cash, warn you before the lanes start that it is FAST TRAC only no cash.. the 241 does take cash and he could have explained at the booth for money there that he got on accident and taken it back.

Actually the signs are not that clear. There should be at least one out area for those that get caught by accident. But I guess that would be less money in the pocket.

its funny.. since reading this thread I have driven through both the 91 fast track and the 241 toll lanes. I notice the signs in plenty of time.

my son and I counted on our commute in today. Between Corona and the toll roads, there were 3 signs saying TOLLS/NO Cash/FASTTRACK ONLLY for the 91 Fast Track Lanes between Corona and the fast track lanes and 6 before the 241. Each sign had the TOLL in all caps with a Yellow back ground.. you really can't be paying attention to signs if you miss that.
