Uh-0h! No ice? Lower albedo = more heat = rise in temps = less ice = lower albedo = we're scred

Yes you are screwed. Instead of the Arctic being MINUS 59 it will only be MINUS 58 You are going to perish from heat stroke.

This could be good for business up north, a summer vacation at the North Pole sounds like fun to me, although swimming with all those polar bear corpses floating round might not be.

W've heard it all before.

So instead the min. ice extent grows the last two years. This is another example of alarmist article that Mother Nature proofed wrong.

The article was from 2008, and ice was greater than the previos year for the next two years after.

Mark Serreze, of the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder Colorado should be ashamed of his crazy prediction or upset at being misquoted.

I will remember to look for his name in any new crazy predictions.

A look at the ice extent. Notice that 2009 is at the level of 2005 now.

No story. The north pole is often ice free. That it will be happening more often is very weak evidence of anything except the KNOWN decline in ice area.

"No story?"
"The north pole is often ice free?"
When was the North Pole ever, "ice free?"
First of all, you must consider where the North Pole is before making such rash statements.
Here's a link for you to check when the North Pole was ever ice free.

I'm just not finding any hitorical references to when the north pole was free of ice. Are you reffering to sometime before recorded history?

The north pole was ice free in 2000 so it is nothing new. OTOH it may become ice free on a regular basis by 2020.

I read that there was a mile wide gap near the pole in 2000, but I can't find anything that says the pole was ice-free. Do you have any documentation

God I wish Topix would vet these propagandist
Topix thread abstracts! Just like the one last couple of weeks on "so-called scientists claiming
that 34 Million years ago, reduced atmospheric carbon dioxide, caused ice formation in the South
Antarctica Circle, when carbon 14 dating is only
good for 25,000 years back, and Australia the size of the United States, less than a 1000 miles north, is 95 per cent dry desert, at about 100F
all year round dry temperatures!
These abstracts are obviously blatantly false, innacurate, just to keep the "CO2AGW" carbon dioxide controversy going without providing one iota of remedies like my 4 for consideration
December '09 Copenhagen "Kyoto" remedial Talking
Points, which guarantee our Planet's survival
for future generations, but have been assailed
by that Green Peace off-shoot LIARS like Mark
Serrese types, with 'truthist' Houston as their
secondary trolling, flaming, slandering unformally educated, low self esteem Internet trolls since February 2009, and getting worse
as U.S. Congressional, and United Nations bodies
are about to set far-ranging climate change mitigation, independent of carbon dioxide, but
focused on extensive Reforestation which will
absorb man-kind "heat island" HEAT, replenish depleted OXYGEN from conversion of fuels to CO2,
release cooling water vapor, absorb CO2 rather than dangerously storing it, and reduce CO2, unburnt hydrocarbon {HC's} from tail pipes,
at the reasonable 6% to 8% rate by 2018/2022 as 'mandated' last December 11th. 1997 at the 1st.
