Hey ACLU, Tell Dumb asses to stop running and fighting cops and they won't get taser'd. Isn't the ACLU headquartered in Boulder? Is that why they are flapping their useless gums there? Come out to Firestone and ask our cops to stop using Taser's. I dare you.

Seriously, the ACLU is wrecking our once great country with petty stuff like this. They are so worried about offending the CRIMINALS, that the victims are getting victimized twice. Once by the criminal and then again by the ACLU.

When Police officers were actually Peace Officers they didn't need tasers. where I live they Sheriff's Deputies actually lobbied to carry switchblade knives. Justify that for the jack booted thugs who enforce our laws. I'm sure that tasers do save lives in some situations, but I am just as sure that other tactics can usually work as well. My big problem lies in the fact that most officers aren't trained to peacefully control situations anymore, they are only trained in how to instill fear not respect.

Hold on there Firestone, the ACLU might be onto something here. In the escalation of force ladder in law enforcement, it goes like this: verbal, hands, mace, baton, taser, and firearm. The taser gives officers an alternative to using deadly force. If the taser is eliminated as an option for police against the long-haired, maggot-infested, sandal-wearing, dope-smokers in the People's Republic of Boulder, that means there's one less step for cops to go through before going to deadly force. Hmmm! Imagine the possibilities!!!!!

It's either use somthing with less deadly force or use lethal force and use handgun or shotgun. Point I'm trying to get across is that taking away tasers from police officers lead them with no other choice but to use deadly force. The main mission of any Officer when they go on duty is to go home to dinner at the end of the shift. A lot of people won't understand police actions unless they take the time to become one, it's hard and intense job that anyone can't do.

That is right, put the tasers away and get the guns out, just shoot them if they get out of control. That way the tasers won't cause any heart attacks!

When the Criminals begin following the directions given to them by Officer's and Deputy's then and only then will I stop using the taser.

ACLU, how about asking people to STOP BREAKING THE LAW?
We haven't seen one instance where your "organization" recommends that people avoid breaking the laws of our country, thus avoiding confrontations with law enforcement.= not getting tasered or shot

Did any of you read the article? Did any of you comprehend it? The ACLU isn't suing. The ACLU is simply saying that in light of the newly revealed fact that taser shots to the upper torso can kill people (completely defeating the point of the taser), there should be a temporary hiatus on their use. I don't agree, but you people just see ACLU and start freaking out over nothing. Get a grip.

Tasers work great on normal people. But on crack heads and the mentally insane, they have no effect. The basic mechanics of a taser are to short circuit the electrical pulses in the muscles. A really muscled up guy will hurt waaay less than a skinny crack head. And those who are literally crazy are somehow not affected, probably because they are "wired" differently.

My boyfriend is a police officer and former SWAT member, and he doesn't even carry his taser anymore, for fear of getting stupid lawsuits from people like the ACLU.

OK... stop using tasers and use guns again, the police officers have a right to defend themselves! Hand to hand combat puts the officers health and/or life in jeopardy. I think the criminal is not a suspect (who is now assaulting an officer) and should be the one to suffer the consequences of their bad decision.

Then maybe the ACLU should be the cops and let them enforce the law. Or maybe they should just shoot to kill. Tasing is better than killing in my book.

If even one person is killed by the use of this "non-lethal" WEAPON. Then they need to not use them at all. To run the risk of killing someone over what ever reason that didn't require a real firearm is not acceptable.

Come on Tazzman, The cop is using the tazer in order to protect himself without killing the bad guy. Without the tazer it DOES require the firearm your logic is non existant. I wish you people that think the cops should not have these would spend just one week in their shoes. Your head would then come out of where it's been and you would see the light.

Have you ever been attacked Tazzman, You ever been assaulted? You ever feared for your life and wondered if you were going to make it home to your family? Well if not then shut up! Please.

This is just stupid !!!
OK so they should just go back to having to use excessive force or shooting people instead just in case one out of a couple thousand just might have a heart attack?
If the person was controllable they wouldn't need to use any of the above. But society has gone plumb loco and worse, there are way too many teaching their children that they don't have to listen to or comply with officer's requests or teachers or other adults.
We are going into our second and third generation of thugs and bullies.
Just tase them and arrest them.
Or just let the country run amok and allow anarchy to rule. Because just the stress of arresting criminals who are resisting and fighting could in and of itself cause them to have a heart attack and we can't have our poor unlawful criminals have anything bad happen to them. We can only allow them to do bad things to other good people who obey the laws.
Let me say it again. This IS SOOOOOO STUPID !!!
Ofcourse they will

That little weapon packs alot of energy for such a small device. Under the right circumstances you could light someone on fire with a teaser. My question to the ACLU is this.... Would you rather they go back to beating the offender with batons or shooting them? What about the beanbag weapons.... those are just as dangerous as a real bullet if used the right way. Personaly I would rather be teasered then any other option. Atleast there is a chance to be resusitated.

Evidently the ACLU (All Criminals Love Us)has forgotten one important aspect of their threats, This would not be necessary if these perps were obeying the laws!!!!
