http://www.kentucky.com/latest_news/story/858... magistrate in Clay County was part of scheme to corrupt elections and passed out money to buy votes, a federal grand jury has charged. Stanley Bowling was charged with racketeering and conspiracy in a case that also involves several other current and former public officials. The grand jury issued a new indictment, released Friday, adding Bowling to a list of eight others indicted earlier on charges that they worked together to buy and steal votes between 2002 and 2007. The others charged in the case are former Circuit Judge R. Cletus Maricle; Doug Adams, who retired recently as county school superintendent; county Clerk Freddy Thompson; Charles Wayne Jones, the county's Democratic election commissioner; William E. Stivers, who has been an election officer in the county; and Bart and Debra Morris, who own a waste-hauling business in Manchester. They have pleaded not guilty. Paul Bishop, also a former election officer, was charged in the case but has pleaded guilty. The new indictment in the case says federal prosecutors will attempt to collect several million dollars the defendants allegedly gained from their illegal actions

If people knew how good it is to live her, it would get overpopulated and then it would be like a big CITY, a dump with polution and smog everywhere. Live your life right and be respectful of others and Clay co is the best place to live in the world. I am just glad outsiders don't this place.

Honey you need to get out more if you think CC is a great place to live.Nothing wont come there because of all the crooked dealings in everything. Come on see the world a little bit.I promise it wont hurt and its nicer than what you use to.

Its so nice and private in the area I live, I have 50 acres of land in the country so it is really a nice peaceful place to live as opposed to laurel, and such, they are to restricted and overpopulated. I may have to travel to work but I get to come home to a lovely place to live. I get 4 weeks vacation in the summer, so I do alot of traveling and yes I love the change for a couple of weeks, but when those two weeks are over, I am so ready to come home to clay co. The simple country living is something you cant get any where else. As far as politics go, its like that everywhere clay co just got investigated but, if you aren't involved in the politics like me what goes on in town is just something to talk about, it doesn't concern me not one bit, I go about my own business. I see clay county as one of the United States best kept secrets. I could not imagine living anywhere else.

If you live in a bad part of clay county, i'm sure your life would be hell. But not everyone lives like the people from, horse creek, big creek and such. There are some really nice places to live. LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT. You can live a trashy or decent, no matter where you live, the choice is up to you.

I think the biggest problem is the public rarely sees nor hears about all the good people and the pretty peaceful places.Only been in clay County a couple of times in my life and that was to see the sights from off I-75 at Richmond and to travel 421 [I think thats the road #] through Jackson,Clay, then on over to Laurel back to I-75 again. So I am sure I saw very little of the REAL Clay County people. All the TV shows focus on the drug problems and the poverty and the people that just dont seem to care about anything and the news shows the crooked politics, etc and crime. Never a nice show about good people and pretty places.I am sure there are many good people and places along with the bad just as any place else.I am glad you have found your peaceful place in life.

You are generalizing and that is not right. I know plenty of people that live in those places that live good lives. Yeah, alot of them have to travel alot for work, but they still live in nice communities.

Your right, its just that the majority of the off roads in these areas are a thugs paradise, I guess you can say. But I didn't mean to offend anybody, Clay County in whole is better than any other place I have been, to me.
