Cuban man plead guilty in Texas to drug conspiracy

"Cuban man plead guilty in Texas to drug conspiracy "

A man from Cuba living in Florida has pleaded guilty in South Texas to conspiring to transport cocaine from the U.S.-Mexico border.

Federal prosecutors say 36-year-old Rene Cardenas of Miami also helped distribute the cocaine in South Florida and smuggled the cash profits back to Laredo. He pleaded guilty Tuesday in Laredo to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. Six others charged in the conspiracy are awaiting trial.
