Am I the only one who gets depressed when they drive through downtown Forest City? Numerous empty, run-down buildings, and mediocre businesses in between. I have lived in this town for almost 3 years, and have only been to downtown Forest City once. It was a horrible experience...not worth my time. The business I visited had extremely rude owners who acted like they were ready to go home, even though they should have been open for 2 more hours. Between Forest City, Rutherfordton, and Spindale, the downtown area of Forest City is the least appealing. Funny there are always plenty of open parking spaces in front of the businesses...

I think you need to invest more time in getting to know the people, because that is what Forest City is all about. Go eat lunch at Smith's and you will see that the comradarie leaves little to be desired. The observations you report are true, but plans are being made to beautify the city. I lived there in the fifties and sixties and it was a lifestyle beyond compare. I hope you can find the good things that make FC what it is.

Try investing more time in getting to know the people because that's what FC is all about. While there are a number of empty buildings and other cosmetic irregularities, plans are being made to beautify the city. As for the unfriendly shop owners, that is something I never experienced. I grew up there in the fifties and sixties and it was a lifestyle beyond compare. I return annually just for old time's sake. Hope you find what I once found.

I've been here for 2 years, and it has only went downhill. Even at Christmas time, it was depressing to see. It looked like a ghost town with cheap lights, and I couldn't stand to see it at night. I'm just wondering who's job it is to try and coerce people into visiting Forest City...right now, it is just a waste of money.

I agree with you. The parades are more awful every year, the scenery is so bare, everyone is so Rude, and there is never anything going on worth coming into town for.

I disagree that the people are rude. In general, many people in FC define southern hospitality. Of course, there are always a few rude ones but the nice ones vastly outnumber them in my opinon.

Well, I figure it's a waste of my time to even venture there anymore, especially now that Davis Donuts has moved!

If you don't like Forect City life, go elsewhere. Most of the folks there are natives and have little use for those who are not.

Ah, nice example of what I'm talking about. No wonder there has been no progress in the town. Obviously none of the locals want it.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Cancer

You feel the urge to move onward, powered by your wisdom: when you're right, you're right. You may feel that any further explanation is unnecessary, but the people you're dealing with might need it spelled out for them. Take the time to draw a picture or use smaller vocabulary words to get your point across, Cancer. A public demonstration will probably prove to be the last word on the subject.
