What is the story with this BPCC Softball team and coach? My daughter wants to play here but I'm a little unsettled about it because I have heard a few disturbing things. Does anyone out there have the 411 on all this? Thanks in advance for your help.

She is intense and passionate, but cares deeply for her players. It is a great program, and the college is exceptional.

Take her anywhere but there! The coach has issues, bi polar or something. She screams and curses at the players all the time. Don't take my word for it ask anybody that has played for her. I'm not even going to mention her win/loss record, BAD! Check it out for yourself. I honestly don't know why she is still there with the kind of losing record she has. Anywhere else and they would have gotten rid of her and brought in another coach. I have heard that because of her attitude most player will not stay and play a second year for her. Went to there website and saw that they only have 5 returning players from last year's roster of about 25. NOT GOOD! But check all this out for yourself.

I had heard these things and just wanted to see if there might be some truth to them. I have talked to a couple of former players and they have confirmed this to be true. They said if they had had a choice they would have gone somewhere else but they didn't have any other offers and had to stay there with her. They said they were misreable the whole 2 years they played for her. It shouldn't be that way! One of them said that she came on to them but when she wouldn't go for it she started really riding her bad.

They really do need a new coach, I have heard all the things above and from several different places. She doesn't seem to treat her players right and as a coach that should be your #1 priority. How can BPCC attract good student athletes with this kind of leadership? The answer is they can't.

If you want you daughter to keep her self confidence as a player and a person I would not suggest sending her there. The school is a good school but the athletic department is terrible not just softball but all of the coaches, she just happens to be the worst. I have never known a coach who knows so little about the game. She goes off 4 years of college when she played 20 years ago only actually starting for the last 2. your daughter will do one of two things if she goes. She will either quit and come home or be absolutely miserable for the next two years of her college career. She doesn't coach at all. They need a real pitching coach a real hitting coach a real coaching staff. This us why the records are terrible. Ashley Grisham recruits very talented players from highschool but doesn't utilize the talent and pisses it away basically. Its sad to be honest. I have watched a lot of her former players play in highschool and was very entertained with the passion and aggression these girls play with but after leaving bpcc they have no desire to play anymore. She basically ruins the experience for them. That's why only 5 went back when she had only what 7 or 8 sophomores.

Terrible coach. Always yells at the players and acts more immature than her college players. Complete embarassment to Bpcc and her players. DO NOT let your daughter go here, she will hate softball the rest of her life.

Her sexual orientation is not the problem...to each his own. The problem is all the wasted talent coming into the program. Im not sure how she gets such good players to sign on, but by the time they leave, they have no self confidence. I understand the tough-love concept, but she takes it to the extreme, belittling the girls, making them truly hate the game. If your sending your daughter there for the softball program..dont. Send her for the education. If your daughter has the opportunity to go to another college, seriously consider that 1st.

If your going to play at BPCC you better kiss up to the coach and she better like you. Because I never understood why she'll recuit so many players and never give them a chance to play in the fall. Only plays her favorites! Just a bad coach in what could be a good program.

I pitched at BPCC from 2000-2002 and went on to play at a Division II school in Florida after my years at BPCC. I have read the comments above and just want to write about my experience there. Not only was it a great experience for me, but I would also recommend it to others. She's tough, but when has that become a bad thing? It is no longer recreational softball, but college softball. It is about discipline and hard work which lets be honest, not everyone is cut out for. I had a handful of teammates there who could not handle the pressure and discipline of this (which caused parents to get involved) which did not have the best outcome. These parents showed up for games not seeing the lack of motivation, hard work, and discipline their daughter put in at practices and in school.
I was 17 when I started at BPCC and the experience, motivation and guidance by Coach Grisham was nothing short of great.
As far as her sexuality goes, I don't know nor do I think it should be an issue. If you're daughter plays college softball anywhere, she will meet MANY (as the person above put it) girls that bat for the other team.
Like I said, I would recommend this program to anyone, and I'm sure the above comments are not from former players, but outsiders who do not have first hand experience with the program.

lola7- you cant be serious. she had a couple good seasons long ago. but with in the last 5 years ashley grisham has lost her f-ing mind. she kicks dirt, screams like a child, bashes her players, and curses like a sailor. she needs to honestly be medicated. i can speak in my own situation i didnt crumble under her i stuck out my 2 years and went on to play at a division II school. I got more help in highschool and division II coaching staff then i ever got at bpcc. her program was a waste of time and talent. she DOES play favorites...theres no doubt about that. look at last years stats. last year alone she had a roster full of all state players and none of them came back. there are players that need to be at a ju-co level and then there are kids that had all the talent and no help getting recruited. thats how she gets LUCKY! she pisses away the talent. and like "justafan18" said she doesnt know anything about coaching. she goes off 4 years of college when she wasnt even good enough to play the first two. she coachs because she wants to live through her players success and take all the credit for it when they themselves are the SOLE reason for their success. she gives no guidance. no support. no professional criticism. poor pitiful grisham. you cant be serious. i enjoyed the teammates the roadtrips and the times with my friends. i did NOT enjoy to mindless wondering of a coach yelling and bashing me and my teammates during the middle of a game. she rooted more for the other team then her own. no wonder why her seasons have sucked ass! if bpcc considers their athletic department really valuable then they need to bring a more stable minded person in to coach them. plain and simple. let her come watch and cheer. she can do that from the stands she doesnt need to be in the dug out any more. everyone comes to a point when they need to let it go and her time is coming soon. but then again all bpcc's athletics shouldnt even be counted as real programs. none are successful and all the coachs are off their rockers.

I have personally watched some bpcc softball games and Ashley Grisham is one of the biggest jokes in College Athletics. I have never seen a coach degrade her players as much as her. I played sports all through high school and college. Believe me i have experienced tough love before and having someone discipline me for mistakes. But i have heard Ashley Grisham call her player a slow fucking chunk. I'm sorry but that is completely unacceptable. A move your feet or ass either one is completely understandable. Honestly the lady is unstable and does not know the game of softball. She is living through her players and picks favorites. Most of the time it is someone who is like her no talent and kisses ass to get playing time. She has her moments where by luck she made the good call and they won. but that is once in a blue moon Just look at her record. Do not send your child here. If she has any chance at playing softball on the college level send her somewhere else.

You are so full of sh!t you could float! I bet you were one of her little pets! Only those players that kissed her a$$ talk about her the way you do! She is a POS and she is as crazy as they come! None of your sticking up for her changes the facts and for your information there have been several players of hers that have posted here and if you were on facebook you would already know that! And believe me there will be more to come and post here! You are a huge minority sweety!

When I played for her I was so embarrassed when we played in Texas and showed up at schools that actually had a nice field complex on campus, not a run down Bossier City field.....they actually had decent coaches........they actually had decent uniforms.......Their coaches were not screaming at them but instead offering words of encouragement. I learned nothing from her, she taught me nothing and I saw her actually screw up girls that came to her as much better ball players than when they left BPCC. I went on to play at the next level but Coach Grisham had nothing to do with it! I did my own recruiting work with the help of my Dad. I could not believe the difference when I got on a REAL TEAM with REAL COACHS!

I would never encourage a young girl to go and play for this woman and have to live through what I had to. She has ruined more young girls attitudes, hopes, and dreams than I would care to talk about! STAY AWAY FROM BPCC SOFTBALL AS LONG AS GRISHAM IS THE COACH!

i agree with "former player"..i dont exactly think she knows what to do as a head coach. think, you only have these players for a 2 year span instead for 4 so you have to help them get to the next level. she puts forth zero percent effort into getting her girls recruited. there are no videos made, no calls made, no stats sent. i mean why send stats though when they are terrible. a players performance is the reflection of their coaches teaching and effort put into that player. there are people that sink and those that swim. its sad when your players can coach and run the show better then the coaching staff can. no wonder why no one takes louisiana teams seriously during competition. its just ashame that the only people that really see this kind of behavior are the players and even parents. but even the parents arent taken seriously when they try to approach upper authority with the problems. there is a difference between actual coaching criticism and just being plain ridiculous and she has gone way past the line. i WOULD NOT recommend bpcc to anyone going for athletics. not just softball but for any sport in that manner. its all a waste of time and money. it will cost you more to send your daughter there then it would to have her living at home paying tuition at a local college. you will pay more for an apartment in one semester then tuition for a whole year. NOT WORTH IT! thank god im out of college and over with her nonsense.

Okay I'll add detail to the fact that players learn nothing from grisham. I was moved to the left side when I arrived at bpcc. Little experience on that side if any at all and I learned more from other players... Oh wait, that's because she didn't help me. Doyle should be head coach if were going to go by knowledge and coaching skills. As an all state player I went in to the program with great stats and reputation. I played one inning and got pulled without even touching a ball, but yet "everyone gets their opportunity" players who "get on board" are the ones who play. And "ball players" do what it takes to start. FORGET THAT! She wants you to kiss her ass like she had to in college while her sister started every year. Ball player=kiss ass in the Grisham vocabulary. I have too much pride in myself as a person to drop down to that level. If she doesn't want players with skills she Gould stick wih the girls who had no other option and quit ruining dreams of others.

As a mom of a player, not of Coach Grisham, I think you all sound like jealous little league players who didn't get your way!!! I have know Coach Grisham for years and have always seen how devoted and hard working she is. She lives for that team. All of you slackers who sat on the bench quit your titty baby whining! And this is 2010, who gives a crap about "what team you bat for"? Grow up! Anyone's daughter would be lucky to be offered a position for the Cavaliers!!!!!
