Yeah. Great idea. How would you like to be pulled over from a cop currently on community custody wearing an ankle bracelet?

Better yet, send Valdez out on a warrant pickup to get another deadbeat parent.

Such irony, Valdez get paid while in jail and on leave, when he doesn't even pay for the well being of his children.

And the best part... a case had to be dropped against a bad guy today because Valdez was to testify, but you can't when you're in the slammer.

What an awesome cop!

Not.

Do put on the ankle bracelet but also he needs to be fired from his job.

Let me get this straight, he owes $14,000 plus and his ex never had his wages garnished so whose fault is that?

An LE who cannot afford to lower his standard of living so he can support his kids should not be on any LE force.

And he gets paid while in jail, man you sure can't beat that for making a living.

Why doesn't the Bosque Farms PD allow him to work, but keep 75% of the salary to be paid towards the child support payments?

Bluntly - This is the third (3) time he has been held in contempt for non-payment of child support. His wages are garninshed but he kept changing jobs (until this one) to stay ahead of the garnishments.

Does this not show the idiocy of putting someone in jail for owing child support? I cannot figure out how this helps the children? Is it just me?

Perhaps instead of putting the monitor on his ankle, the state should consider putting it on his pipi. I mean afterall, thats what put him in this spot.

Why don't more fathers get custody of the children and have the mothers pay child support? That would be great!

That is the sign of one who knows how to beat the system. It is also in my mind one who is unfit to be a dad so they need fix him so he can't make more babies.

Then his name and mug shot must be sent nation wide to ever LE department so he cannot find another job as a cop.

That's just for starters, truth be told he should be locked up for 25 years or so and at hard labor to pay off his debt.

In some instances that has happened, but it is still rare in the USA.

If you were his ex-wife would you trust him to be a good dad?

A good dad would make the payments, visit his kids and take an active role and get along with the ex so the kids see their day and know he loves them.

This guy can't possibly love his kids if he skips out on supporting them.

We need men like him. He procreates children who grow up and make good cheap labor. He is good cheap cop labor for those who wield political power. He personally fails to follow the law and is already out of jail despite years of willful refusal to obey a court order. He is a perfect specimen to enforce the "law" for the powerful who demonstrate it is who not what you know. A perfect example of how society's thugs really are is the fight between APD and the State Police downtown. The fake veneer dropped and the real bully in them all came out at each other. Much discretion is in the eye of the policeman in who gets stopped or arrested or beaten up. This is the man who decides what is proper, first for himself, then for us. He decided he did not need to support his children. He has no business being society's first line of enforcement of society's rules.

I'd say that this might be a stupid question, but you never know in this state... are they even his kids?

It is a very human thing to be mad at a deadbeat father. So many times women are told, "If I put him in jail he cannot pay because he will lose his job." Their little eyes light up with understanding and they agree not to pursue incarceration.

Did you see the file in judge’s hand? I recall in December 1995 then Retired Sgt John Anderson (CSPD) and current Sheriff EPCSO started an inmate fraud program with a few exceptions to ensure families were still taken care of…

The details of this program are listed below: Inmate Fraud Program
In December of 1995 the El Paso County Sheriff's Office was the first Colorado sheriff's office to implement an anti-fraud program designed to identify inmates to federal, state, and local public assistance agencies with the intent to cease illegal benefit payments to incarcerated persons.

Individuals who are incarcerated are not entitled to receive benefits from the Social Security Administration, Colorado Division of Employment and Training, and Department of Social Services; these benefits are in the form of SSI, disability, unemployment, food stamps, and AFDC payments.
On a weekly basis, the Sheriff's Office has been notifying the appropriate local, state, and federal agencies of the names, social security numbers, and birth dates of all inmates in our county detention facilities.

These agencies compare the lists against names of their benefit recipients. When a match is discovered, that agency commences actions to stop payments to the respective inmate while the inmate is incarcerated. The program has resulted in a substantial savings of taxpayers' money.

Since the inception of this program, the efforts of the Sheriff's Office have directly led to $1,196,302.98 of tax dollars being protected from fraudulent abuse,

Yup. If you look up the case on nmcourts.com , you'll see that it's been dragging on for about 8 years.

That's 8.

Years.

You gotta feel for the ex-wife. More so, the poor child he chooses not to take care of.

Departments would be wise to check the job hoppers and a red flag issued just like the color coded interpo notices...Like that term in survivor (Time for you to go)!!

This is so damm funny. Just look at it this way. Valdez could pull some one over with a ankle braclet, and the could tell ankle Braclet stories and how good of time they had in Jail. What has this country came to. All the Cops are criminals. Militants and just plain Bullys. This guy should go to work for APD. He would fit right in.

Wow! What type of society do we live in when our police force need to wear ankle bracelets? Next thing you know well be having lawyers convicted of vehicular homicide asking that blood level toxicity values be stricken from the trial because "the wrong needle" may or may not have been used!

Exactly, i am a single father of two kids full time. I get no support. I have three friends exactly the same. No support. My kids are 11 and 15. I have always had to fight the system because im the father! I have full custody and nothing. But if it were the other way around the courts would have me paying everything i have. It's one sided but times have changed and have been changed for some time now. It's time for the courts to start supporting the good fathers also. Ok, im done bitch'n!
