One Day Trash Pick-Up

I am outraged that the idiots that run Bordentown Township opted to change the trash pick-up to one day a week! We pay a huge amount of taxes in this town, how dare they do this! What the hell are they doing with all the money?!!!

They did? When did the change occur? I didn't notice.

How about merging Bordentown City, Township and Fieldsboro to shave overhead?

There is a new trash company servicing the township. It was effective on April 1st (April Fools Day - How appropriate that the village idiots would pick that day to do something utterly ridicules!) It is now April 7th at approximately 2:30 pm and the trash has still not been picked up! Great decision to switch companies! What morons!

From what I heard, all five committeemen voted to switch to once a day pickup. It will save the township a considerable amount of money a year. Given the state of the economy, saving money is not a bad idea. If the switch did go into effect April 1st, then I'm sure there is a ton of garbage to be picked up today, the first day of pickup under the new company. I for one will reserve judgment for now and wait at least a month before crying about once a day pickup, which by the way is the norm in practically every other municipality.

If the one day trash pick up will save the township a considerable amount of money a year, then they should lower our taxes.

BR you are absolutely right. Our taxes should be lower. I love this Township but could hardly afford to live here. To be honest, the finger of blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the Republicans in office for the past several years. i hate to make this political because I dislike liberal Democrats but what have they done with all of our tax money over the years? I would like to know just as you would..

Come on, you all know damn well that moving to one day pickup is not going to save any money. The employees that have trash duty will still be getting paid to work that day, and it probably just gives them time to hang out and play cards. Please....

I don't know what you people are complaining about. I live in Easton, PA - and we have trash pick up once a week and we pay quarterly for it. NJ taxes are so much higher, so I'm sure you already pay for it. But with your state workers having mandatory days off per month - they're just working on cutting costs. In my opinion, the people to blame are the ones that spend so much and buy houses they can't afford - and then blame everyone else for the economy. I agree that the switch was very poorly handled. My parents didn't receive any notice about the change.

What does that have to do with the switching to one day a week trash pick up issue at hand?

I think they should have given us a notice of some sort (I had pamphlets jammed in my door in January about the trash/recycle holidays) and the "sign" outside the township is not visible to many of the ways that I go in and out day-to-day.

I understand that this "should" lower taxes, but I realistically didn't expect a sudden adjustment on April 1st. I also understand that this may delay/put off/reduce a potential increase at the end of the year, so I won't complain until the end of the tax year.

And to the comment about the people buying too much house: I also blame the townships who approved the zonings and building of the giant homes, the McMansions on tiny lots, etc. If you built only upper tier new homes, what do you expect? Every township is shady when it comes to providing "affordable" housing.
