So rumors are flying that more Special Metals workers will be laid off again soon. Office workers, production after like 80 maintenance workers last week.

Will they shut it down for a while or what?

No more lay offs till November 10th that's the official word from the company. If sales haven't improved by then the company has said it will layoff 10% of the work force so that's another 54 or 55 people. They fired the old sales rep and hired a new one. Let's hope he's good.

If they want to save money layoff the higher paid ones who have been there for over 15 years. Will save more money for those CEO bonus checks then the ones who have been there for 5 years.

The last group that were laid off had 14 people that had only been there for 5 DAYS!
What kind of company lets someone give a 2 week notice at another job expecting to have a good job and then lays them off less than a week later??
There were 8 more that had only been there 2 weeks!
The people making the decisions for this place have no idea what they are doing!
They need to get rid of some of the upper management that have slithered in to the place in the last couple of years!

The way that company works it don't matter how hard u work, hours u put in to make them happy they still find a way to dick u over no matter what you do to try to make a living.

The marketing sales manager was fired over it all because of the 14 new hires that never even got to work after their orientation.. It's bullshit.. I was laid off as well. And to the comment about them dicking ppl over, that's the most accurate statement I have seen on here yet because they are never happy or appreciative of their employees efforts.. The always want more more more. People think we are over paid and lazy but fact is, no one knows what we deal with or what we are put through. It's impossible to fully understand it all until you are on the other side of that gate yourself.. I just pray that this lay off passes quickly and I'm able to provide for my family meanwhile. And I do also feel very sorry for the men who left their old jobs and got f#^ked by the company before they even got their new boots dirty.. The company did the same thing to me, had me quit my job with the state and the day before I was to start at the plant they called and told me it was going to be a "lil while" before I could begin the job. A friggin year later they called me back to come to work.. There should be a law against that..

You must not remember what the last republican in office did for this country either. It seems to me I remember a recession.

I pray for all, hourly and Management. I prayed for my job there, and the Lord blessed me with it so I will not complain good or bad. The company is forced to make the decision to lay people off because of the semi-recession we are heading for. Lets all remember how we appreciated the job when we first got it. for better or worst we are all in this together.

I posted about a month ago that this was going to happen. No one wanted to beleive me and what about NOW!!! This is not going to stop, it's only going to go deeper. I have been here for a long time and have seen this several times. I spoke before the contract vote, but you (yes) voters sold your soul to the devil again. If you where around when we got promised this and that, then the company bent us over, took pensions, health care and wages, while management got BIGGGG Money and most then ran off. Oh Big Jim we don't want to strike Boo Hoo.Our Union Comm. is as to blame as the management. They are all in bed with each other. I bet you beleive me now. I bet the company guys that get sent to the bricks ( Will have their pockets full) and our union brothers only get a
(TURD). You can lead a horse to the water, but when you have no Balls to stand up for yourself he will learn to drink!!!!!!!!!!

Explain to me exactly how the contract effected the lay offs. I mean honestly if we would have voted no and they came back with a better offer and it was what everyone wanted what's to stop them from laying us off after that too. Just curious. All these people want to say we should have voted no and blah blah blah well how would that stop them from laying us off?

As long as Simplesloth, "twitchy" Mccloud, "two faces" Boretell, and the rest of the clowns are out front, nobody knows what the Hell will happen!
They would send everyone home to save enough money for their salaries!
Don't stress trying to find any reasons for the layoffs!
If we're not running, they shouldn't be getting paid!
