My family and I went there last night for dinner. We ordered out dinner at 6:07 (we noted the time specifically to see how long it would take). We received our appitisers in about 20 minutes. Our dinner did not arrive on our table until 7:20, an hour and 13 minutes from the time we ordered. I think that was a bit much. The food was OK....nothing to write home about. The kids both ordered meals that had chicken breast in them....both were dry and overcooked. I had a burger ordered medium....came to me well done...again overcooked. I ordered a root beer soda that came in a bottle. I asked for a glass with ice for it...never got it. I later asked for ice water with lemon. When it arrived, she didn't have any straws on her and said she would be back. Ten minutes later I had to ask for a straw again.
I do understand they just opened and are still trying to work out the bugs but good service shouldn't need time to grow. Your either a good server or your not, and in my experience with this place, they were not.
Just my opinion, but my family will not be going back.
Why would you just sit there for an hour and thirteen minutes waiting for a hamburger?

Hey I didn't get on here to start any trouble or run some restaurant into the ground. Someone asked opinions of the place and I gave you mine. I hope they survive and do well, but my family and I will not be back.
You are just upset because they wouldn't take foodstamps. Bahahah

We went back last night and had another terrific meal. The service was very good and the food tasty and hot when we received it. The drinks are a bit pricey but the food was very reasonable. Unless they take a turn for the worst we will return again and again.

I was there last night for a few drinks at our South Lewis multi-year get-together. The place is beautiful! Whoever designed it did a wonderful job. I haven't eaten there yet, but I've heard great things about the food and service. The drinks ARE a little pricey, but it's not a hole-in-the-wall bar either. It IS a very nice place, with a nice atmosphere and I look forward to dining there soon.

Hey...you wish the days of Hazel's restaurant was back don't ya? anyone remember that place?(In Port Leyden) It was over by the knitting mill in the 60's and early 70's. Yup...I'm old.
There was nothing around up there when I was a kid..unless you wanted a pickled egg from the local bars or a trip to the Gas light in Boonville. Ha! No Macky D's or Burger kings either. Ahhhh....those were the days.:)

To those of you who think that Topix is responsible for business downfalls, this is just a gossip site, nothing else.

It's on Route 12 in Lyons Falls, between Stewarts and Black River Inn, right in front of The Edge Motel.

I haven't eaten at boondocks yet, I've been there for drinks, and they were really pricey. I do know one place to eat that is out of this world and that is Michael's at the turin highlands golf course. Their food is absolutely the best I've ever had.

Some one asked for an opinion, so it is OK to post on here what your experience was. there is no personal agenda against the owners, I think it is great that they are there. Very smart business move! But Yes my food/service sucked too. We were there once for a party that we catered ourselves the first week it was open, we catered ourselved because they were grossly over priced when compared to others and they did not have a set buffet menu to choose from but were still inflexable! the room in the back where the party was had no air conditioning and was so uncomfortable! I also went for dinner the weekend of the SL reunion. were seated quickly. appetizers were very dissapointing. a man came to the tables next too us and I could tell he was apologizing, and after a long wait he came to our table and said he was sorry our food was so delayed, they were not prepared for the "rush"? it finally came and we told the waitress to box it up becuase we had to get going it had been to long. the manager came back out and again apologized and said we would not be charged. we ate the meal at home. It sucked. all I can say is they just need new kitchen staff! maybe then they will be fine

Perhaps if you are looking for cheap food, you need to eat a McDonald's. Prob more your style. We ate there 3 weeks ago. The food and service were great!

I visited the Boondocks with a friend last Friday. It was unique, clean, food good and prices reasonable. The help were satifactory with the service they gave, the food was served promptly, good portions and was good!!! AND it is a nice place.
Saw many families there........children were well behaved also. Compliment to the parents!!!
Improvements are still being made. There will be a little trickling stream under the tree area.........
AND that tree in the center of the dining area was AWESOME
Want to see that around the holidays.
I give this a 5 star rating.

I disagree, I could point out several things but i will recline to do so. I would just recommend a few other places, Tug Hill Winery's brunch, Rivervally Inn or Doyles Pub.. You won't be disappointed.

Had the food at Michaels. It was good. Too bad Michael is such a piece of work.

How so?, I never really noticed that about him, he came to our table and asked us how our meal was, he seemed sincere.

Thank you for respectfully disagreeing. Not many on here do that!! When people can do that on here then maybe others will follow, I doubt it, but here's to hoping!

Never again at Boondocks. They served me a sandwich steak for $18.95. You can't fool me twice. Menu said steak dinner, not sandwich.

This forum is about Boondocks, not golf course food! And btw, that guy IS a jerk.

I really like The Boondocks. However, it does have some have new-restaurant-struggle issues. I met the owner. An excellent business man and he is honest as well as sincere. Let's give it six months to get on firm legs. The place is a downright blast inside. Decor is Adirondack and original. And best of all, the beer is cold and the waitress is very cute!
