I know a guy that does it and he is good as well as very very fair priced! He works out of his home so I'm not sure how to hook you up!

@MTBTONC I must state that if you are offering up a service it's not a hobby it is a job. I can assure my client's that I am totally legal business with a DBA and sales tax license. So with that being said it has to be understood that if you are offering up your knowledge and services as a professional.

Well I hate to burst your bubble, but your not totally correct! There is no tax on labor alone for computer repair! In most cases I have the individual order or get the parts they need and then install them! I'm not in it to get rich and have no problem turning people on to newegg or tigerdirect for ordering parts, but let me guess your next complaint will be their parts are cheap and no good, cheap yes no good -- wrong! Did I mention I don't charge students labor at all? I also don't charge for operating system back up, video cards, memory or software installation! I been building complete systems for over 12 yrs now! If I had to guess I would say I have built over 200 complete systems and all for under $700.00 including the operating system and some smoking fast gaming systems at that! It is just a hobby and since I don't have a DBA, I don't have to charge people sales tax and I don't have to charge an hourly rate either! I do it to help students and family's who cant afford the rates of a computer repair shop! I don't advertise yet so calm down I wont be taking all your customers away! Since a DBA is less than $40.00 maybe I will start a computer repair service!

Maybe someone can help me I don't know much about computers it runs very slow and takes like 5 min to load up and will only stay running for 45 mins before it shuts off. Best Buy wanted $75 just to look at it. I don't have much money so if it can be fixed for the lowest amount possible that would be great. Thank you

Okay the 5 min start up could be a bunch of programs loading. The 45 min run time till shut down could be a simple as it's plugged with dust or maybe the processor fan is going bad or not working at all! The fan is about $5.00 if that's what it is! As far as the start up that's a piece of cake to fix, but you really need to find out why it's shutting down before you burn out something mainly the processor! What brand comp is it? If you get an account here you can message me and I would be glad to help you further! So far sounds like a cheap fix!
thanks

@MTBTONC yes I am Ernest DelMonico. I hope it's all good stuff that you have heard about me. I do deal with Tiger Direct and New-egg all the time for my computer parts because they have the best economic prices. My business does try to help people with their computer needs without having to spend an arm and a leg because I know most repair shops charge an hourly rate of 48-68 bucks an hour and I feel that it shouldn't cost a lot for computer repairs.

Most likely that's your processor fan and it could be ready to quit completely! When the bearings get bad sometimes all it takes is a jar to get them running again, but it usually is temporary! The location is decided through your internet service provider "isp" and they change from time to time. I have a free account through topix and have my location hidden which is one of their options. It's easy to sign up and get an account. Dust is the number 1 cause of fan failure!
thanks

Thanks for the Info.So you think the processor fan bearings are bad?The quiet fan is running now but usually it makes a louder fan noise but not since the fan shutoff and restarted! This computer is a compaq with 2-gigs and only 1&1/2 yrs old would the fan be bad already? When my isp changed so did my weather on my homepage MSN I can change that but when I run the cc cleaner it goes back to Rouses point.I dont think Time Warners Internet provider is Rouses Point. And someone on another topix said its easy to change your IP.What is the cost to fix this fan problem?

Fans range from $2 or $3 up to $10 to $15 depending on size and style. I honestly don't know without looking at it what exact fan you may need. A year is plenty of time to be plugged with dust! I clean my personal computer every 3 or 4 months because of pets. If you want to try and change your ip unplug your modem making sure if it has a backup battery to remove it also, wait 30 seconds or so then plug it back in and replace the battery. In most cases that will reset your ip address.
thanks

I honestly cant speak for another repair service! I don't know anything about them! There is a chance that it's plugged with dust and just needs a good cleaning. As I said without actually looking at it I cant give a 100% diagnosis. If it does in fact need a fan it should be something they have on hand and be a fairly quick fix. Yes your internet might have been a bit slow after a reset!
thanks
