There a new game in town that going to give the Herald a run for the news. Today I was visited by a sales person of NNYBest.com wanting to sell my boss an ad. That person says they will have a reporter covering Boonville. I got on the site and found mores news there than anywhere. They are doing a bang up job on reporting the obits and having all the news in one spot. Has anyone else got on that site and what do you think?

What I see is Watertown-St Lawrence Co stuff. Competition with the herald, doubt it. THe Herold only reports "happy news". This site is more competition to newsjunkie.com than anyone else. When I want local news I go to wbrv or their website. They have all the local news and obituaries.

Okay so I've checked out the site the first writer says, ie: NNYBest.com and didn't find anything about the Boonville Area. I found it too crowded and not really user friendly. They have a few things to iron out for sure. I clicked on a few of the links at top and got really nothing. Example: clicked on Farmer's Markets and there was nothing there about any of the local markets.

Keep trying folks, we do need something more than the 'goodie goodie news that the B-Herald spews. BTW I stopped buying the B Herald just because they don't report names for people doing crimes in their police report section. That's like 'empty calories' as far as I'm concerned.

I not sure. What I see is 4-5 stories from the Boonville/Old Forge area. Just how much news can there be in our area. If that continues they will have much better coverage than the Herald and it will be current. It is good to see what other areas are doing. My daughter goes to Potsdam and it is nice to see what that area is all about. As for WBRV, don't get me going. I would rather read the news myself that have them read it to me. I like newsjunkie and it will be good to have one covering us. I see they are writing some of their own stories. It looks like this NNYbest welcome stories written by anyone.
Competition doesn’t hurt. It is good.

I want more than just the good news. I want all the news.

This is ust my opinion. Newzjunky is all of that! It is just junk. It carries stories about crackhead parents roasting their 6 week old baby in their microwave because they got too high. It highlights people who torture small animals. It covers any crime dealing with sodomy and makes it a headline. It focuses on divorce announcements and local police reports. I would be ashamed to have any relative of mine having an obit on that skanky internet site. They are disgusting in my opinion. If someone is trying to start an internet news site based on those scumbags, it will NOT be a good thing for our town. Please do now bring our town down to those skanky standards.

I now live just outside Lowville, formerly from Boonville and work in Boonville. The Herald only comes out once a week and most of the news is old. WBRV carries news which is a day or two late. Boring, except for the new lady. If you take a look at their news, it is mostly crime. Seven out of ten stories are crime. Come on now, they can do better. Again I like to know all the news, good and bad. I agree News Junkie doesn't cut it either. I think this new NNYBest carries all news and most of it is good. Now for the good, WBRV-WLLG carries great music however they need a new Kenny Youngs. They also are great with the human interest such as birthdays, weather, and community events. Maybe they should stick with what they do best and drop the news altogether. One thing I like about their radio is the personal interviews. They need more of this type of programing.

I bet this is the person who started NNYbest.com on almost all of these posts trying to boost his ego.

I agree, I think Ned is writing most of these comments. I find very little news from boonville on his site. It's going to be another newsjunkie. No competition for the herald.

The Boonville Herald is a newspaper. These internet sites that mix local news with Hollywood cannot compete with a local town paper. I do not know who Ned is - does anyone know? I think the Herald has nothing to worry about. I have read Newzjunky over the last few months and it lives up to it's name. It is junk.

Forgot to mention. There is no competition. The Herald is a rock. Really, nothing to be concerned about.
