Every time the snowmobile races and Snow Cross are in town it seems to increase the rates. Happened last year too. Not to mention the new business in the Ethan Allen building. Why should we have to pay extra for them? The town should pay, they are the ones making the big bucks.

I agree but how would anyone ever find out if they are doing this. Our bill went up last year during races but only they know and I'm sure they won't tell. I know the pure power rate went up but I think we as Boonville power customers should be told why it went up and if we can expect the same next month.

And I think the chairman is also on vacation. Do you people really think they are concerned about how much we are paying? Look at the people that are board members. They stand to gain a lot from us changing out our electric heaters. Its a conflict of interest. Politics at its finest. The officials reaping the benefits of doing a bad job.

I have no idea what any of you are talking about. I use my electric heat when the outside temp is around 30 or higher (which has been a lot lately) and I have not seen any kind on change in my bill. The last bill I got was for $90.23 while on of my coworkers who is on Grid and doesn’t have electric heat got his last bill for about $200. You guys must be using more power than you think!

I am an idiot because my electric bill has not gone up? I pay 30-45 every month during the summer, and every bill I have received this winter has been between 65-95 dollars (excluding when I pay my water and sewer). That is no different than what I paid last winter. The people I work with that are on GRID pay no less than 70 all summer and 150-250 during the winter. Those are the facts…….. JACK!

Maybe you should become a “zombie” too, it will save you a lot of money!

First of all I do not work for or have anything to do with the MC, I actually work in Utica. Secondly I have no intention of trying to “impress” anyone. I am just stating my bill did not increase. I’m sorry if yours did and you don’t believe me, but mine didn’t. I would be glad to put a picture of my bill on here if there was a way. Even if I could I’m guessing that you would come up with some excuse saying it wasn’t real. Bottom line is people will believe whatever they want to believe, so if you want to believe there is some electricity conspiracy going on, have at it. I only ask one thing of you, please don’t reproduce. This world can’t afford to have any more uneducated morons it in.

Bash my post all you want, I will reading your replies or posting on this topic again. I’m not going to waste my time with people who are too dumb to listen to facts, and you can’t fix stupid!

Apparently some of you didn't read the news paper about the increase in electrical heating customers and everyone using over 2000 kwh. Understand a little bit about what goes on here and you would know they can only buy so much cheap hydro power per month. People already owning homes install electric heat or replace their furnace with an electric boiler or plug in electric heaters when they run out of oil boosting the demand for more. So they are forced to buy nuclear power to make up the difference. Now the total cost is divided up amongst all the customers. More and more people are heating with electric, especially after fuel oil went over $4.00 per gallon.
Complain to the Public Service Commission or the Municipal, not on here. Those employees are great and right there for you if the electric goes out. Even in the worst storms the longest I've ever been out of electricity is 6-8 hours.
How can anyone complain about the cost of electricity on the Municipal Commission?
The NY Power Authority increased Boonville's contract power allowance when Owl Wire went online in order to avoid increased purchased power costs to the residents. If you think back, Ethan Allen went out and the same thing happened, our rates go up in the winter (because its cold). Also, for the past several years Boonville Municipal Commission has been adding 30 or so houses a year as people from down state have been building "camps". The purchase power upcharge is only going to go up.
It is still without question the cheapest and most efficient electric company anywhere in the north country.
Insulation has gone a long way in REDUCING my electric bill!
All of you complaining don`t complain when the price of beer or whiskey go up. You just keep tipping those glasses and cans up.
Stop crying about your bill or live like the Amish do.
I can count on one hand how many times we have lost power in Boonville for any length of time over the past 25 years. Grid customers are always loosing power and it takes forever for it to go back on. Boonville Municipal does a great job and we should be grateful.
Funny no one ever winces about municipal bill in the warmer months, when it's like 20/month. It's winter and it has been extremely COLD. Be glad you aren't paying National Grids rates.

As consumers we have the right to receive written notice if rates are about to increase, don't have to find out in a newspaper.
Municipal Commission has had their advantages, but this time they went way overboard with prices. That means they can Do whatever they want without notice because they Regulate Themselves wich cat be good for consumers.
You are Nobody to come here and insult people who are commenting on their bills and rightfully. You sound very eloquent but are acting like a Moron.
