BS, read post #34. That is my feelings about gays. I don't know about your prom but at mine for West Forsyth, there were a lot of tongue's being stuck down each others throat's. Both of my kids have gay friends and I have 1 gay friend and I think the world of him. We will sit around with him drink beer and tell each other the most vile, disgusting, racist and fag jokes that we know.

O yeah, my boss is a lesbian.

I asked before and still no one has given an answer. Has anyone really talked to their children about the prom, about this situation? It is really such a big deal to them to have a classmate bring their partner to the prom?
Diversity is nothing new with teenagers.
You know...why not just pull your kids out of school all together and home school them? I mean, the schools are being run by gays, so just be done with it? That sounds like such a great answer doesn't it? OH no, it's OK for them to go to school together, but not to attend school functions. What's next, a sign outside the football stadium saying "no gays", or the gym saying "heterosexuals only"?

I did and she said that she doesn't see why it is such a big deal. Also "People aren't as judgemental about gays as they used to be because there are so many of them".

That came from a junior in HS.

You are right. What is this world coming to? Who are YOU to say what is right or wrong for someone else to say or be? This is a prom for these kids. I am a high school senior myself, and one thing that all of us know and accept is diversity. Everyone has a right to there own opinion, but not the right to shove it in another person's face. How would you feel if it was YOUR child in this situation. Think about it.
You are absolutely correct! A brilliant post and absolutely on target. No one has the right to "shove it in another person's face" and "everyone has a right to there (sic) own opinion". Oh wait... you're saying that the majority of people must accept this "alternative lifestyle". In other words - you're shoving it into our faces and the opinion of the majority doesn't matter. Hmmmm. Seems you mean that it's OK when the cause is one you support.

No, Fed Up. I have strong, intelligent, moral children. They do not judge people. They put the judgments in God's hand. They have been taught to treat others with respect and integrity! As parents we have told them of our beliefs on the subject but, ultimately it is their decision to believe what is right and wrong. At the same time, to respect the beliefs of others. We have friends and family members that are gay, of different religions and races. Does not mean we treat them an differently.

If your children are so disgusted, take them of of the school system. Have an all straight school. Teach them discrimination. The same discrimination that the black community suffered through.

What I don't understand is a Christian that teachs hates. A devoted Christian that can quote the bible with ease, can also be the same Christian parent to teach this judgmental hatred to their children.

Use some common sense here, Blue Dog! They hide it not because they donít feel ďnormalĒ or feel ashamed, it because they are afraid. Afraid of being bullied, beaten and killed. Yes, these prejudices lead to murder. Wouldnít you keep your life a secret if you feared of being beaten and/or killed.

So go ahead and teach your children the ways of hatred. You arenít doing Godís work, your doing the Devilís work. Read Romans 14:1-13

This is truely a fantastic step forward for such a samll town. Our children and their childern will pave the way for equality, tolerance, and acceptance that the generations before could not. Perhaps those with such negative opinions should reserve judgement.

What the other students at Starmount High School should do is boycott the Prom. Let NO attend except these two. The school would be seen as caving in to the treat of being called into the ACLU. The mom in this instance, is looking for "attention" and publicity. It is common knowledge that she and her son plan to move to California after graduation this year. That is JUST the place to have these relationships.

I am the mom of one of these boys and I can assure you, they will not be sticking their tongues down each other's throats, making out on the dance floor or dirty dancing like some of your children will.

They also will not have a hotel room to go to after prom so they can commit that time honored prom favorite activity of getting laid. They will go to the prom and come home. Whereas, the rumors of drinking by some of the students or their plan too are spreading faster than this story. If you want to protect your children then maybe you should check into those issues, because they are the ones that matter!

Chase and Jordan will be at Chase's senior prom!!! They are exercising their constitutionally protected rights to be at this "school function", their tickets have been paid for just like everyone else's. They have every right to be there, even the school has admitted that, and changed their policy to protect the rights of these LGBT teen's.

When it comes to equal rights under the law, the majority is not the controlling factor, neither is the bible! The majority cannot, nor should not be allowed to over rule basic human rights, if they did, we would still have slavery and idiotic things like that.

Jordan and Chase attended Jordan's Junior Prom this weekend. No one complained, everything was wonderful and all the kids had a great time...because they did not care that a gay couple was at the prom. They did not discriminate against them, they accepted them.

If this Senior prom is ruined, because 2 gay boys attend it, it will because of the hate and discrimination of their peers and their parents.

Both of these boys are wonderful and loving. They are good people! You don't even know them, you are solely judging them on their sexuality.

Matthew 7 Verses 1-2 state: Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Verse 3 says: And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Homosexuality is not a choice, no one would choose to live with this kind of hate if it were up to them.

and the desperate shall "lie"

We are not, nor have we ever planned to move to California. I am not looking for attention and publicity, I am looking for equal rights for my child, the same thing any parent would or should do in our situation!

The school didn't cave, the school did what was right, they "supposedly" have a strict no-discrimination policy, I merely made them enforce what was already in place! Discriminating against this student is no different than discriminating against African Americans, Women, the elderly. It is wrong and should not be tolerated. If it were your rights being violated, you would feel differently!

I hope none of you ever have to suffer the hate and intolerance you have inflicted on these two boys!

wowwwww, look how much time everyone is wasting. They get to go to prom so why keep going on about it? Just leave it all alone considering the fact that no one knows what it is actually like to have a gay child. THANK YOU (:

And threatening to call the ACLU and the media on this becuase someone didn't agree with your view is classless. Why not let the students decide on this? Instead we have to apease two individuals while ignoring the majority.

I am the parent of a student that will be a junior next year. There WILL be a PRIVATE prom next year for Starmount High students to attend by invitation only. The ballroom has already been reserved at a very nice hotel in the Elkin/Jonesville area and there will be a dj and all the catering and decorations. We will be contacting other parents if you'd like to help make this a truly special prom for your straight kids.I for one AM NOT too cowardly to stand up for what is RIGHT!
And not letting gay kids attend is right is it?

Just the reason I homeschool. Not because they're "gay", but because the schools have no desire, nor courage to stand for the rights of the majority.
The majority doesn't have the right to tell people who to bring to the prom.

Look folks... it's simple. Gays and Lesbians are no different from anybody else. They put their pants on, the same way everyone else does. We are everywhere. We work with you, we work in places you go. Do you really know when someone is or isn't. No, you don't. I don't always know myself. The fact is.. it doesn't matter. We just want to be normal, like everyone else. But, we can't because others want to make us out to be something far worse, than we are. That is what is not fair. The fact is, we are just as diverse as the rest of this great country. We come in all shapes, forms, sizes, and backgrounds. Yes, some of us are christians.. and other various beliefs. Just your average everyday person, who wants to be able to participate in everyday normal activities, with the person they care for, or love. Just that simple. Why is that so wrong?
You are right. "They" have NO CLUE as to who is gay or not most of the time. "WE" are everywhere! They need to get over themselves!

Why do you homophobes say "taxpayer" like gay people don't pay taxes?
And "tax dollars"? I thought we were talking about a couple going a high school prom, not a highway project. What? They might have buy a couple of extra name tags?
