Wow....did you ever notice that whenever we have a tragedy like the Newtown shooting, people everywhere can't wait to get on tv, newspapers and online to show how damn stupid they are when it comes to the subject of firearms and the laws pertaining to them.It is hard to believe that there sre people still ignorant enough to blame an inanimate object for what happened at that school.Only one thing caused that tragedy and that was a nut case kid named lanza.Thank the Lord he solved the problem on his own instead of getting " three hots and a cot" at our expense.

If any of you are genuinely touched by the tragedy that happened in Connecticut, are you of our community willing to bombard our local retailers including Walmart, Freds, Dollar General, Family Dollar, every Pawn Shop in town and any other retailer close by and at a distance ...with pressure to remove the violent video games from their shelves. This would includ pressure on our lawmakers to bann the sale of these video games just the way they have banned pornography. No doubt, from the way the gunman was described how he was dressed and armed, I, like many of the young people in our own community, spent countless hours litterally hooked to those video games day and night, repeatedly virtually blowing people away. Late into the nights our local video addicts can be found immursed in this violence...and when they finally do lay down to sleep, I CAN ASSURE YOU, IT ISN'T VISIONS OF SUGARPLUMS THEY SEE DANCING IN THEIR HEADS! These games are as addicting as tobacco, drugs, and any other mind-controlling influence out there. If this community really cares, you will take immediately action in this direction including communicating with our Banner Independant over this matter. The problem is real and it must be addressed. The pressure of the people is what it will take. Please pass this thread on as far as you can..for all our sakes.

In that last thread, " I " was a typo. I have never been one of those video addicts.

I see your point about the violent games........but what about the 99% of people who enjoy them for what they are : just a game.We should never even consider taking guns away from lawful citizens because of the actions of a few.We must make people accountable for their actions and not blame games or guns.

There have been millions of 1st person shooter games sold. Millions of guns sold. None of that causes killers. Killers come from parents who don't whoop their kids ass because they believe in time out. Parents letting the kids be the boss and not teaching them to think rationally, and stupid closed minded alderman like Booneville's who refuse to accept it can happen here and equipped their officers to respond to situations like that. And therefore it gets worse because officers don't have necessary guns, shields, etc to respond and intervene. They lock the stuff up in the basement of City Hall where it does no good because the prissy mayor doesn't think we need those here

I have a question. Who is buying these video games for their kids? Who works and pays for these guns? These video games? Um..... parents?! Some wanna blame it on violent games, some on the guns, but the truth of it is parents are the ones giving these things to them and parents are the ones paying for them. Parents are to blame. Get involved with your children. Know who your children are! Know where they are! Know what they like! Know if there depressed! Know if their being bullied! Be parents! Step up! Stop letting your game systems and tv b your babysitters! Get involved!
