Think most Booneville always heard about poor Brad's murder. Rumor was main one with last name initial was l. He had officer father and his friends were some landon, and angel. Even heard they were all present and seen him beat and the angel girl was even murdered/found dead mysteriously after Brad's death because she was going to the FBI. Just corruption and anyone who tolerates murder deserves to be on death row. Those families have been put there pure hell and it is shame it has been kept quiet. Solve this case!

Story I hears was over money somehow. They were seeking money from him. Not sure why. Several stories. But on the Angel girl (I think was her name) she was the Landon boys girlfriend and just so happen to be present when they beat him. From my understanding she said their anger got best of them and they had set up that meeting spot prior and supposedly to meet Brad with the money they said he owed or they thought he did. I don't remember how long after Brad's death the Angel girl died. She had told several people close to her before her death of what went on and her intentions to work with the FBI and seek justice for him. Since she wasn't anything more than a witness to horrendous crime. She had been threatened many times but finally made her mind up to seek justice anyway. From story I heard she left the Landon boy and he lured her in his vehicle and they fought like they frequently did. Then from the story he pushed her out of the vehicle leaving her for dead. Story was this boy told many people what he done bragging that he shut her up. This boy has been in trouble alot and has had charges on him for violent temper. So it fits him. L.b. angel (forgot last name) & the officer son last name L. Heard the officers son was the leader and gave the command and participated in the death of Brad.

I understand the officer wasn't proud what his son done. But to cover his son crime up was wrong. And if the story of the son asking the officer what to do and according to story the officer told him to put Brad's body close to Alcorn/Prentiss line so case would fall through the cracks. Then the officer also needs to be prosecuted. If you are related to Brad I really hope you get the justice you so deserve and he can rest in peace. Get someone other than locals. Get a P.I. Check out corinth topix and there is a Landon in that section. Who knows could be same one.

I really hope these stories I have been told by her family, help you on your quest.

Who is this landon boy? Never heard his name mentioned in any of the cummings murder ? He was friends with Lovell ? Tell me more details about him. Maybe someone should go question him about his involvement especially if he was there when it happened ?

Strange thing is that everyone wants to talk and spread rumors but when asked nobody wants to give a statement on who did it? Odd that they will post on here and act like they know everything about the murder.... if you know something why not tell someone and maybe they can work it and come up with something to help get these people in jail for what they have done. Looks to me like if there were several people involved, then someone had to tell someone something about it at one time or another, so why doesn't those people come forward with what they have heard and try to help in this case. Just like earlier in the thread someone stated that they heard Lovell say it out of his own mouth and they heard it with their own ears ? Why not tell the police that are investigating ? Just like the people that stated that that "Landon" guy had knowledge about the murder...... why do they not come forward in that and tell the investigators what they have heard and let them go and talk to that guy ? If people would try to work with the Police instead of bash them for working the case or not working the case this would get solved. Worse case senerio it could at least give the family some peace in knowing why this happened and who really did it.

McMillan Funeral Home records show that Hattie Pearl Tidwell died on May 19, 1924 rather than on the 17th of May. Also, I believe it was the Chase man that went to prison and took the rap for Clarence Cummings. NOTE: There is a Clarence E. Cummings buried at Gaston Baptist Church Cemetery in Prentiss County, MS.

Thank you for the info. If it's a Clarence Cummings that died just a few years ago, it's the one that they said murdered the Tidwell woman. His son's name is Roy Cummings.

Going back about 90-100 years ago. Looking for information about a young girl named Tidwell, that supposedly was pregnant by her boyfriend. She was murdered and thrown into a creek. I have been told there was a song written a recorded about it. "What have you done Clarence Cummings?" He did time in prison for this. I'm just researching my ancestry and would like to find out more. Sorry if this offends any family, maybe since so much time has passed, it will not offend any.
"One night when the moon shone brightly
And the stars were shining too
Into her cottage window
Her jealous lover drew
Come love said he, let's wander
Down by the meadow so gay
Where not disturbed by parents
We'll plan our wedding day
Out rambling in the meadow
She grew afraid to stay
Out rambling in the meadow
I must retrace my way
Retrace your steps no never
These woods no more you'll roam
But bid farewell forever
To your parents friends and home
Down on her knees she bended
A pleading for her life
He took a club and struck her
And took poor Pearly's life
What have I done Clarence Cummings
That you should take my life?
I always have been loving
And would have been your wife
But I'll forgive you Clarence
Was her last and dying breath
And into her sentence speaking
Her eyes were closed in death
Next morning the birds were singing
But mournful was their tune
For they found poor Pearly's body
In a cold and silent tomb."

You'd think that people would read the posts to get a full understanding of what is being written and why, especially when it gives the original talking point. Human ignorance never ceases to amaze me. Go smoke/drink another one and think about it. Think about your last two posts and re-read the full post to which you responded.

Wow! Way to go Don! I didn't know you had that ability to be outspoken, but I am glad to see it. I guess I have only been around you when you were quiet. Thanks again for the posting and all the work you have done with cemeteries around here.
