Stay. How is Owsley to build a program if the coach is being changed every year or 2? Have to give the coach a chance and the kids time to adapt to his system. This is the problem here with sports.

In my opinion, if he is fired, it will not be because of how he is doing as a coach. I frankly think he is doing a good job being a young coach growing with his young team. But if he is fired, it will most likely be because of his poor ability as a teacher.

Very good point. First and foremost education should always come first. I for one can not comment on his teaching ability, but from the aspect as a coach I think he should stay.

I personally can't comment on the quality of his teaching, I just know what some of his students have said. I am also going on the long reputation that coaches are coaches, and not really strong in the classroom. This is definitely not always the case, I have had several coaches as teachers and they have turned out to be great. But likewise, I have had some of my worst teachers as well.

Owsley County will never develop a program until they keep a coach for a few years. The previous administrations went through coaches every year and look at what it has done for the program. I think the coach is doing a good job and deserves a couple years to show his worth.

As for his teaching ability. I have child that has him for chemistry. My child said he is a very hard teacher. Which would explain why some kids dont like him. Naturally if something is difficult some students will complain.

Hopefully the administration is smart enough to realize this young man needs more than one year. But I dont expect much from this school district.

The same group of boys were 4-20 last season..they are 3-12 now and the competition doesn't get any easier. How many other teams/coaches in the 14th region have returned as many players from last year and are doing as bad? I don't think they have improved any at all and the recrent Jackson City game was embarassing IMO.

Owsley is not going to attract and keep a good coach without support from the community, parents and It takes determination and hard work from the players. coaches do not score points.they prepare kids for the game, but the kids have to execute.
Small town talk in Booneville is discouraging to coaches and players. People better get behind the coach and players and try to build them up instead of tearing him down. 3 of the last 4 coaches left for jobs at larger schools. Do you blame them? It would be sad to see a young coach with good potential be let go. As for teaching, students are saying good things. After all, everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves and one year is not enough.
