I think we have a great school system, however I have been hearing complaints from some kids in ms.Burch's room. She is too out spoken to her kids I hear she's grouchy and mean to her students. I do not send my child to school to be talked down to. If this continues I will have to make a visit to school. If anyone else has this problem let me know.

My son has had her as a teacher and loved her! He was always excited about her class and learned a lot. I feel she is one of those teachers who lay a strong foundation in a suject and then a child builds and comes back to that. He really stressed about leaving 5th grade because he liked her so much!

Do you really think this is the place to air your complaint? Ms. Burch has a planning time most days and I'm sure she would be glad to address your concern. Spend more time with your child and less time on Topix.

I agree with the last three threads. She was my 5th grade teacher too and to this day stands out in my mind as one of the BEST TEACHERS I have ever had. She is the main reason that I myself became an Elementary School Teacher. The problem is that many parents mistake discipline and strictness for cruelty and it just isn't so. Just b/c she won't allow students to talk back, act up and misbehave doesn't mean she isn't a great teacher. Great teachers demand respect and I feel ANY student could not only learn alot from her but would be lucky to have her. I also agree that you need to talk to her about the situation and get her side, I have found that as a teacher myself that 5th graders often overreact and have very, very vivid imaginations.

Yeah she was too mean. Really bossy you didn't cross her. She ran the school told the principal what to do. Knew her stuff though.

This is no Place to be talking about a teacher. If you have a problem with a teacher take it up the right way.

It came strait from one of the students that she made a remark out loud about a certain situation in her class, she did'nt know, but what she said embarrassed the student. She is too out spoken.I believe in dicipline but there's a right way to do it without makeing the person feel belittled.Did'nt mean to upset anyone, just remember if your child comes to you with concern a teacher, please listen.

Mrs Burch is a wonderful teacher. She has many years of experience and I have to agree with an earlier thread. If you are so concerned why are you on Topix and not spending time with your child. Maybe the problem is the parent and not Mrs Burch. My daughter had Mrs Burch and loved her. yes she is strict and any parent that really cares about their child would want a teacher that has control in their classroom. Some parents want to think their kid is the ONLY kid and dont want to face the fact that they have a problem child.

Mrs. Burch is like the Mrs. Bowling of elementary school. She may be hard on the kids and she may give them a lot of work, but the kids learn stuff they will always know.Isn't a school about challenging the kids' education?

Tina Bobrowski was the best teacher ever. Hands down. I enjoyed her in class and learned so much from her. I also think she does a great job in the library. I heard she is sooo much better than the teacher that was in the library before her. So glad she left before I got there. Mrs. B your the best ever and have impacted my life more than you know. Thanks for teaching me spanish. Hasta luego!!

My children have had great teachers in the elementary school so far. My only complaint about owsley co schools are the bus drivers. They allow bullies to pick on the smaller kids and do nothing at all about it. If the drivers cannot control the children they need to retire or find other work. I understand they have a dangerous job but they allow more than just bullying to go on. They allow these smaller children to be physically abused by others, it goes way beyond just teasing and picking on them. I have learned not to depend on the school administrative personnel. They are no longer in control of the buses. If anyone has a problem w/ their child being bullied and abused on the bus and the driver will do nothing about it, go to the bus garage and speak to whomever is over it. I have learned that he will resolve the issue. There are certain employees of this school system who will help you and who do care about the children. I am thankful for this. I just wish that something would be done about the uncaring bus drivers. Not all of them are that way. Some are wonderful but others just don't care what some of these children have to go through. It is not fair to them.If a child is being bullied and abused, it is up to the bus driver to stop this behavior. The driver as well as the bullies should both be disciplined and counseled.
