What do you think about Paul Green and Charlie Davidson resigning as ball coaches? Seems like our school can't have a good program for our big turn over with the coaches. This is why we have athletic children leaving the county.

I had no clue Charlie resigned. He left the baseball team after all the talent leaves and now he leaves the basketball program. This is what happens when people are put in positions to just fill them.

Who will replace Davidson and Green?

I had no clue Charlie was resigning. Seriously? We can't keep a decent ball team due to the fact that everyone quits. The one year when we actually accomplish something too.
So What

My opinion I knew that Paul wouldn't be able to handle two jobs. I"m glad he gave up coaching. I didn't think he was a good coach anyways.

It seems that Owsley County has not had a stable coach since Tim Bobrowski. Since he left Owsley has had 6 boys basketball coaches with most quitting after one year. The girls program has now started the trend with losing Coach Bates and Green. I dont know why people doesnt want these jobs. Maybe it is the pay, or the time that it takes but Owsley County needs to hire a coach that is here for the long haul to build the program back up to the way it was during the Bobrowski years.

I totally agree with u "IN SHOCK". The school can't keep coaches or teachers. I believe it is because of the Superintendent she has her picks of who gets hired in the system. If it doesn't meet HER standards then she doesn't want anything to do with it. I just hate loosing coaches because we do have talented kids at our school. The kids will not succeed any higher because they have no one to work with them and stay for the long haul.

I am very upset with the boys basketball coaches and the athletic director's for letting them get away with it. It is a shame to treat our tenth an eleventh grade ball players the way coach Davidson and Tyson Gross have this past season. They never got a chance to prove them self because the coaches were so involved with the senior ball players and the eight graders. The only ones hurt by this were our boys and there parents. What if those players said enough is enough an let the coaches try to make a team for next year out of eighth and ninth graders???

ive heard from a good source that is close to the Owls, that Coach Davidson is still the coach and is working on the schedule for next year

I can say this, Coach Davidson is still the coach, BUT...BUT, IF and when he does resign, my opinion... The new coach, will be right from the backdoor... And, it'll be an actual Former Owl, Tyson Gross.. That's only if Coach Davidson chooses to step down, I wouldn't count him out just yet.... And, FYI, he only left the baseball team because he couldn't deal with heading 2 separate programs, with 2 babies at home.

IMO Tyson will be his own man and do what needs to be done with out influence from those who have ran the program for the past 10 years. I was embarassed by some of the actions that some of the boys had on and off the court the past two years and got away with it!

You, Me, and the rest of the county...it got really embarrassing... And, i also agree, Tyson has been born and raised in the corruption of the program and those that previously ran it... He knows EXACTLY how they are, and he knows EXACTLY how to do things without listening to there influence. The best part, he is someone that KNOWS the problems going in, so he is more likely to not just leave after one or two seasons...

I think Tyson would do a good job, but how will they hire him and his mother a Board Member. I don't think this is allowed. So who do u think will take over the girls program? I know that some kids are wanting to be transferred to other schools because of the lack of coaching that goes on at this school. So just curious who you all thinks will take the girls program over?

I have always felt that the principal coaching was a bad idea.
I totally agree, that players on the team have acted very bad this season. I went to three boys games this year and was completely humiliated to be wearing maroon and white because of the behavior of the boys on the court. They were not good representations of our schools, they acted like thugs at all 3 games, so I didn't go to anymore boys games. But I got to see several good girls games instead.

Mr. Davidson has young children and I am sure that it is hard to be away from them so much.
And on another note, we will never keep coaches if the administration continues to put so much pressure on them.

Our administration is too heavily stacked with basketball fanatics. I think when we look at administrators we need to find people who are fanatical about learning instead of basketball.

As parents we need to voice our opinion on hiring and vote in board elections. Let's not hire teachers because we need coaches. I would rather have 1 good teacher than an entire basketball team.

ive been told that every coach in the 56th district has applied for the Estill County Head Job. Lee's Danny Wright and Powell's Brian Hall have been seen talking to Estill's AD.

ive also heard that Estill has alot of interest in Breathitt County Assistant Larry Hensley and he has alot of interest in Estill and ive also been told that Estill's AD and Larry went and had lunch togeather.

now has Coach Davidson Officially Resigned From Owsley???

I do know this. Whatever decisions are made and whoever makes them. There will be school next year. Owsley will have a basketball coach and a team as they have in the past. The eight graders from this years team will have to step up next year. Myself I would hate to be the one coaching for the next few years unless there is someone on the way from another school who will led use to the promised land. It is going to take some time to build the team whoever coachs.

I would rather see kids that have lived in Owsley County and who have been brought thorugh successful progarms have a chance at being successful. Their parents are the ones who pay taxes that support the local school district and IMO should have the opportunity of being on a successful team rather than wait on an outsider to come in off the steet and put on that uniform that means so much to those of us who have played for Owsley County and represented it with pride!
