Prostitution in local hotels

We were renovating our home and had to spend a week in an area hotel by the airport. What we did not expect was to stay in a no tell type of hotel. This was a brand name 2.5 star hotel. The lady in the room next to us seemed to be busy just about every other hour all hours of the night. Did not take us long to figure out what was going on.

Upon checking out, we asked to speak to the manager and told her our concern's. She said while they are aware of the increasing problem, they have their hands tied. From a legal standpoint they cannot accuse a lady without having proof of what they are doing. We were told police can't do anything either, same reason. I must live under a rock, I had no idea this area was rabid with this behavior. Seems Roanoke is the new Mecca for this type of crime.

We noticed the same thing, had family staying in a hotel in the airport area for a funeral.  It was 1 night but they ended next door to a lady of ill repute.  We were told by hotel staff that they are traveling ladies and come to town on a regular basis. If the hotels know who these ladies are why do they put up with this behavior?  Are they that desperate to rent a room? Where are the police? A similar problem happened in Illinois when we lived there and police combated the problem by parking a police car or 2 out side of area hotels.  The men who patronage these ladies would get scared when seeing the cars and leave.  No men, no work equals no ladies.

What the hotels are telling you is BS. If they have suspicions of illegal activity, they need to call Police. All Police have to do is watch the room, when the man leaves, stop and question him. Do you think he is going to protect the woman in the hotel room or his marriage and family?

If hotels are compliant in knowingly allowing illegal activity and not reporting it, they can have their franchise reposed by City/County.

@AFAMILY, The "new mecca" ? LOL
Are you serious ?

This has been going on in both low budget and high end hotels and motels in Roanoke since I can remember. Nothing new there.

Here's a newsflash for you, of course most everyone with any "street" about them already knows this but, hotel prostitution has been going since there were hotels. Haven't you ever watched a western movie and seen a saloon scene ? The saloon girls ?

I ask you, other than being busy for most of or all hours of the night was the woman actually bothering or disturbing you ?
If there was unreasonable amount of noise, why didn't you call the front desk then instead of wait until checkout ?

Sometimes it's best to just mind our own business.

And I hope I am wrong, but, you come off to me as a judgemental snob who thinks you're entitled to anything you want including being the Chief of the Moral Police.

You better go back under your rock where it's safe. It's a crazy place out here you obviously can't handle it.

Word has it, Roanoke City Police had an opportunity of a lifetime to make Roanoke escort free city. They blew it in a big way. Instead it is now considered the safest city in VA to work as an escort.

Blame them.

I think what he was trying to say, He may have been staying at The Holiday Inn or Sheraton which both advertises as business/family friendly. Explaining a working girl to kids can't be easy. I didn't find his post snobbish but more taken aback that he found himself in a position to have to explain.
I do know if police make a series of busts in area hotels they can seize the property and tie it up in the courts for a very long time. The hotel will deny knowledge but Police, CA's and Judges are not dumb.

I think I would be upset if I was in a hotel room that I paid for and being forced to listen next door. I blame the hotels more than the police. How are police supposed to know if the hotels don't report it? The police should monitor web sites that traffic in this type of enterprise and maybe work with hotels to deal with the problem.

Since everybody is sharing their experience, our church had visiting members in town staying at a hotel by the airport. They were having dinner at the bar in a well known hotel when they were approached by a lady of the night and made it clear who and what she was. She went so far as to write her room number and the rate on a napkin. My guess is this is a problem everywhere but more noticeable here since there are limited hotels.

happens all over the country, all kinds of hotels, every day of the week. the girls know the safest towns/cities to work as far as LE, altho I have never heard of girls approaching other guests in the bar as described above-thats a sure invite to the cops. they get plenty of discreet business from internet contacts. just check out backpage dot com for their ads

I sure would like to know more about this one, does not surpise me. Roanoke cops are known to take simple tasks and completely screw them up.

I know the story, cops busted a lady not too far back, she agreed to cooperate in return for a favorable outcome at court. Was promised to her by the cops. Court came around and cops did everything they could to put her away. Lied to her. In turn she warned every lady what she had told the cops so anything she gave them would no longer work for them. That's was posted on several private message boards.

Back in the day when I used to hobby, as they call it, I can't tell you how many times I have been in an out of area hotels in the area. Most of the time you are passing another hobbyist in the hall when you are leaving heading to meet the same lady. Traveling ladies pack us in to make more money on tours. It gives us a variety to choose from and we know they are leaving town. Win win situation. Some ladies are discreet while some are not. Advice: Choose a lady that does not travel to the area on a regular basis, someone that won't raise suspicion at hotels.
If cops want to really stop this, all they have to do is read area message boards to see who is in town and stop by local hotels with pictures the ladies have posted on websites. Hotels need to work with cops and vice versa. I hate to see this happen, they are not hurting anyone, at least the ones I know. If some ladies are soliciting in area bars then that should be a reason to bust them.
Word behind the scenes, there is no lady that will ever cooperate with Roanoke City cops after what they did to one lady. Running area joke, Keystone cops of Roanoke.

Once again, how come the local media does not spotlight the situation since the police seem to have thier hands tied? Once again with the aburning question, why does Roanoke need 254 police officer's it seems there is the crime but nothing is being done about it.

I was recently released from jail (DUI) and there were 2 ladies there picked up for prostutition. I think there were more the street type than the hotel type. Cops are at least doing something about the matter.
